Gallery at Market East (The)
One of the largest downtown shopping centers in the country, the Gallery has four levels and four blocks of shopping destinations. Over 50 kiosks with a variety of specialty merchandise located throughout the complex complement the chain of department stores, such as JC Penney and the Gap, commonly found in malls across the country. The Gallery is easily accessible from mass transit. In fact, the Market East Station is on the lower level. Many interesting events, promotions and exhibits are held here too. Call the information center for restaurants reservations, store sales and other special events.
The only reason this place is profitable is because there are very few alternatives in center city. People have to shop here pretty much! If there was another mall in the area this place would go under!
This mall is on the up and up with change of ownership. My visits this year as a consumer have improved tremendously. I would now recommend this mall to friends, family, and co-workers. Clean, good customer service at most stores. We had lunch at Chick-fil-A and we were given some of the best restaurant service ever. Wide array of shopping opporunities. Not only Urban.
Too many people with attitude...
Bums hang around here beggin you for money...
Impatient people shoving you out of the way to get to their bus or to the subway
workers work extremely slow... notice the long lines at food places and all the stores
Too many young high school kids there sitting around lookin for fights
Too over priced for how ugly it is
The Gallery was the best thing going in Center City in it's time. But when the rest of Center City evolved, the Gallery didn't. Although it's still profitable and convenient, it needs to be revitalized. It's time for change.
its dirty, overcrowded, and overpriced. most stores in the gallery have an urban feel to them. as a mall overall, its a good experience coming from a suburban kid. but when you work in the city, and have higher expectations, you may not find what your looking for.
This used to be a great mall years ago. It was getting run down and they cleaned it up somewhat but made it more "urban" so many shoppers just go to the upscale stores downtown or out to king Of Prussia in Montgomery County.
