Continental Restaurant and Martini Bar

Description

Restaurant entrepreneur Steven Starr has been offering tapas-style dining in this restaurant and martini bar for over five years. The trendy and hip Continental attracts patrons of a wide range of ages to its neo-diner atmosphere. In fact, it used to be a diner now, giant martini-olive lamps hang over the booths, while Latin and lounge music plays softly. The restaurant's contemporary cuisine includes outstanding sushi-grade pan-seared tuna and miso glazed Chilean sea bass. Follow dinner with a martini, including such exotic variations as chocolate and the Hawaii 5-O.

aweful food
By ,
The food was the worst part of the martini bar. The food tasted raw, and overcooked. The staff was very rude, and arrogant, and felt they had to be right about everything, and not admit any mistakes.

Family style eats!
By ,
They have a rooftop bar that is so much fun; drinks are outstanding and suprisingly, they are reasonably priced. But the best part of the Continental is the food, which is meant for sharing. I was with a large party, and everyone ordered something different and everything was divine. I have been talking up the lobster mashed potatoes to everyone in the tri state area!

Leaves you wanting more...

The lobster mashed potatoes are EVERYTHING that I've heard they were. The food and the atmosphere is great! The quantity leaves you wanting more but the QUALITY is right on point.

We ARE going back

The food was unique, all my favorites. I went with friends and expanded their pallats. Now, I'm bringing my husband. The value was surprising, as well.

Salad and Service
By ,
This is the first of restaurateur Steven Starr's eateries in Philly and it's been here almost five years for a good reason: they treat you and your palate well. Dig the caesar with chicken and the crab cakes for sure. The salad was heaping and the bespectacled, enthusiastic waiter coached two of us to split the salad and the cakes so we wouldn't be waddling out. Turned out to be the perfect portion for us as we sunk into the splendor of the baby-blue Naugahyde booths. The menu offered tapas-sized dishes in addition to the heavy-duty salads, as well as the way-too-fashioable martini menu, which is annoying and cloying. Must be for the kids who don't know any better. I understand it's standing only at the Continental on weekend nights, so if you seek a good meal without the spilled drinks, hit the place in the afternoon or early evening.

Best Martini
By ,
By far the best Martini's in Philly. The waitresses are amazingly hot, which makes the atmospere very relaxing. Everybody at the table should order something diferent, and everybody can share... that's the best way to get a taste of everything. The servings are enormous and hard to finish without a little help.

Awesome food, drinks, and ambiance!
By ,
I've only eaten at the Continental twice, but it's my favorite restaurant in Old City. The first time I ordered the Continental Salad - it was the largest and tallest salad I have ever seen - delectable. The Seared Tuna is EXCELLENT. The food is extrememly tasty and the presentation makes it taste even better. I ordered a Squirt (cherry vodka, fresh lemonade, and triple sec) this past second time I dined there, and it was delicious! smooth and sweet, how I like it. I'd recommend to any kind of eater - they have a diverse menu, and everything sounds delicious!
