Enjoy some great country music every Saturday night at this over 50-year-old historic theater in downtown Oklahoma City. You will hear up-and-coming artists perform traditional country, contemporary country and gospel music. The performers come from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas and Texas, and they represent the future of country music. The friendly staff considers this "Branson-style entertainment."
We saw the show on June 18th with the Aerhart family headlining it. It was absolutely wonderful and that family can really sing -- Kyle and Amanda are definitely headed for the big time with their talent. Another talented person appearing was Zach who is also a really good singer. We highly recommend the show and rate it as good as any we've seen in the midwest area.
I have seen some negative reviews about the Oklahoma Opry and all I have to say is that those people don't know what they are talking about!! I have gone to many shows over the last years and the shows are absolutely amazing!! I am a singer/entertainer myself and have made many albums in Nashville and the Oklahoma Opry is doing a great job in choosing their entertainers and putting on shows!! Great Job Oklahoma Opry, keep up the good work and regardless what the people with the negative comments have said, I will continue to come to your show and premote for you!!
I think it provides an opportunity for young singers to showcase their talents. Those people that are looking for professional singers need to purchase tickets for those stars that have already made the grade. Some comments that I read were very negative. Larry King who was recently named the Adult Male Entertainer of the Year does an excellent job of singing and has won local, state and international competition. Other singers that have appeared recently are trying to achieve reviews. We the public are the ones that tell if they are going to make it or not. Looking at the talent from the singers that I know that are part of the Country Music Singers Association I feel they are doing an outstanding job. Don't expect to see a $60.00 ticket show such as Toby's, George Strait's or other singers- expect people that are working at achieving a status. Some singers are not all career orientated. Keep up the good work - Opry. I do the newsletter for the Country Music Singers Association of Oklahoma and I think it is a great opportunity for singers to get the experience of performing with a live band.
The singers were all really trying to do their best---and some were very talented, but the man that was controlling the music had not a clue at what he was doing...I think they called him David.....however keep up the singing---you have the right heart
i disliked the fact that i have seen some singers in small competions that were much better than some of the singer that were on your show, now dont get me wrong some were good but some did not have any right being on that stage because they do not have a chance in singing in big lights some day but i dont know how you come up with your singers if they pay to be on the show or how you take care of these things i would try to find some better talent
I was given the opportunity to try out and sing in the Friday Night Gospel this June 24th...I met a lot of great people, people that cared and shared a common belief. I hope to get the chance again, this is a great place and we pray it goes on for many years..
