Deep Fork Grill

Description

Start with cocktails in the antique bar while you wait for your table in this expensive and dressy Nichols Hills restaurant. The full bar features a great selection of wines. The most popular item is the Cedar Plank Salmon which is served with a choice of side dishes. The menu features fresh fish, steaks and a nice selection of appetizers. At lunchtime, the menu offers more salads and sandwiches and the price is about $9 per meal.

I've never even been there!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/3/07
Having read the other reviews I have to say I am a little disappointed with the overall experience. At least I think I would be. It appears it depends on which night and what time you arrive you can either be warmly greeted or be waiting quite a long time. Overall Sunday nights seems less crowded but sense I never eat out on that night it really wouldn't work out for me. The food seems more like comfort food . . . you know fish and beef and potatoes . . . I'm a vegetarian and fear I might be relegated to another overly priced pasta special. Sorry but an $18-25 menu for this fare just seems kinda silly. I mean think about it. There I would be sitting in a dark corner booth, by myself, drinking a glass house wine and eating a bowl of 3 cheese raviolis--I don't know if thats' on the menu sense I've never even been there but it just doesn't sound like a very good evening. All and all the one thing that did seem attractive is the big parking lot. It is comforting to know that no matter how crowded (or not) it might be and even if the service is sporadic and the food mediocre the fact you can drive up and get out with no problem leaves me wanting to come back just because it's convenient. Best on Western
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/10/05
Dined on a Wedesday night. We were warmly welcomed and seated. Atmosphere is lively but not obnoxious, something rarely achieved in OKC. Server (Kurtis, I think) was well informed about wine choices, as well as entrees. Salads were uniquely tasty; highly recommend the spinach w/ gorgonzola and apples. I enjoyed the filet which came with asparagus and scalloped potatoes. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare; had a great flavor as well. Wife had the cedar salmon-the house specialty. It had a sweet glaze, which complimented the fish well. We shared a bottle of Au Bon Climat pinot noir, which was the server's suggestion. It went great with both our meals. Overall was wonderful; best dining experience we've had so far in OKC. Was upscale quality, but with $18-25 menu, not overpriced at all. Was full but never felt hurried or crowded; people at other tables seemed to be regular guests and were enjoying themselves. Service was thorough but very attentive and timely. Thanks again!

A Metro Wanna-be
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/31/05
Arrived on a Sunday night about 6:15. Was not at all crowded. Atmosphere at first was promising in that it seemed to have a warm feeling especially on the cold wet night we were experiencing. Wine selection especially their 'by the glass' and menu seemed reasonable as did the specials our waiter informed us of. However, we were troubled by a rather pretentious attitude displayed by the staff. My wife requested their chicken pizza and a house salad with some adjustments to both due to some dietary restriction and I ordered the Ribeye. My wife asked for bread with her salad other that the sourdough rolls and what appeared was an obviously microwaived focacia with the tough consistency of beef jerky. The pizza came out of the kitchen totally botched with the wrong toppings. My ribeye was barely luke warm, tough and undercooked. The staff and management appeared concerned and did attempt to placate us with a dessert on the house but the experience at Deep Fork left us with an overall feeling that they were trying to be something they're not. Not at all like what we had been told by those who had recommended it to us.

Seemed like a chowhall with waiters
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/16/05
We were told when we called there would be minimal waiting, we got there and it was packed, the noise level was unbelievable and people were standing on top of each other, for first timers there seemed to be no hired help there to let you know where to check in or stand, just mass confusion. The wait was about 35 mins of standing, the table we were given was a placed 2 person table, placed in a walkway that foot traffic had to zoom around, we barely got napkins and barely got drinks, and we could not hear ourselves think, the place was packed like a chowhall. There was no atmosphere, just a desire to pack as many people in as they could. No comment on the food as we decided we could not take the madness and left. We may try again but not if it ever appears to be that stacked and packed when we show up. Menu appeared to be limited and very pricey for the absence of ambience. I can afford the prices but not the discomfort I felt at my table and the fact that I actually put in ear plugs.

Deep Fork
By James, 8/29/04
Ok the food was great. The service was very poor. It took 1 hour to get our salad. Another hour to get our meal. It took 45 minutes to get our check and recieve change. We got there at 7pm and left after 10:15. The food was good. But the service and time to be there was not.
