Description

Located about 80 minutes west of Cleveland, Cedar Point is Ohio's top tourist attraction and considered the Mecca of roller-coaster aficionados. The park features a world-record 15 coasters among its dozens of rides. Highlights include the Magnum, Mean Streak and Raptor. For those wanting to cool off, they may do so at the adjacent Soak City, which features water slides and a wave pool. Both parks have ample places to get food, drinks and souvenirs.

Timing is everything!
By timothy j., 12/1/12
My family visits Cedar Point every year. It is by far the best park in the world especially if you plan a few days and stay in one of the on site resorts, or cabins. I would strongly recommend that you visit the park in late May and early June to avoid the rediculously long lines, as most people wait until mid-summer to visit the park.July or August would be a huge mistake unless you live in the area and can return at your leisure. Cedar Point is a very large park and requires more than one day to enjoy all that it has to offer. Although it is fairly expensive it is well worth the cash if you plan your visit carefully. If you plan for atleast 3 days ( at one of the on-site resorts ) in May, june, or October, you will clearly see why Cedar Point is the best in the world. You will not regret it. I PROMISE!

The Fast Pass Scam!
By Latisha, 10/15/12
Let me be clear, Cedar Point has the best coasters on Earth. However, getting to ride them can be probelmatic. I've been visiting Cedar point since I was 10 years old and have never really had much of a problem with waitng in line. I've always been able to ride a descent amount of rides in one day. Plenty enough to make me happy. But, this past visit was a nightmare! Since the introduction of the Fast Pass, the wait for those who only pay for general admition has doubled, maybe even trippled. I discovered after waiting in line for Raptor for 2 1/2 hours that I should have bought one of those rediculously expensive Fast Passes. Then after I learned they were sold out. They were $60 per person in addition to your general admition! Now, if you have no desire to ride the record smashing coasters Cedar point has to offer, do not bother buying a Fast Pass. The carnival type rides and smaller coasters have very small lines. I quickly booked it over to Millemium Force. After waiting in line for 2 hours, and not even half way through the line, two different groups of teenagers started smoking pot in addition to those smoking regular cigarettes. Also, I witnessed an insane amount of line skipping. There were no attendants policing the lines and people were doing what ever they wished. I felt like I was at some crappy carnival where teenagers go to get high. Parents, leave your small children at home! Fet up and defeated, my father and I left the line in which we overheard the attendant telling a rider it would be a 5 hour wait to get on Mellinium Force!!!! At this point it was 7pm and I was fet up. We left the park all together. I rode one ride from the hours of 12 to 7 o'clock. Pathetic! Bottom line, if you want to ride the rides Cedar Point is famous for, you have to pay a premium price. You have to buy a Fast Pass + General Admisson which comes out to be anywhere from $105-$120. This is a steep price for a theme park where riders skip line like crazy and you're forced to inhale second hand smoke while waiting in line. I've started researching other parks like Six Flags in New Jersey who also have a Fast Lane sytem but operate theirs much like Disney, in which I would totally be in favor of. I know they have some record breaking coasters in which I would love to ride and maybe the atmosphere of the park would be a little classier. I guess we will see.

Cedar Point was so much fun!
By John, 8/26/12
Our family just returned from a 3 day stay @ a Cedar Point resort and I must say that it was so hard to leave after all the fun and excitement we all had - our girls are 5 and 8 and there were so many rides for their ages to choose from - the Snoopy licensing with Cedar Point added an unexpected thrill for our girls - the park was clean, the workers were courteous and just the noise and lights and size of these rides took your breath away - to be honest, we are not big thrill seeking riders but just to witness others was fun in itself - next door @ Soak City made for another fun day and we even got a nite in @ Challenge Park where we played mini golf and rode some race cars - the only 2 caveats I have is that it was quite buggy @ nite (might be normal in late August) and there are some communication barriers with the loads of European workers at these parks - however, we cannot wait to return for some more fun!

Disappointed
By Been There, 8/18/12
My family and I have been going to Cedar Point for years and always enjoyed our visits. The variety of roller coasters is the best, but ride opportunities for young children is also an attraction. Now that I am elderly, I have to be selective as to which rides I partake. The first stop was the pirate ship ride. I requested a front seat to make the ride fun and less stressful; I was dismayed when the attendent refused to allow me to sit there because it was reserved for children only! When I asked if senior did not receive the same consideration as children, she only smirked and said "sorry". Then I was ignored until I finally asked how to get out because the gates were closed. The next ride, a scrambler type ride, took more time loading people in and out than it did for the actual ride, a very big disappointment considering how much it costs to get in the park and stand in line! While the rest of my family went on a few roller coasters, I purchased food and tried to find a clean area to sit; this became quite a challenge, anywhere there was an available seat, it was discustinglng dirty and littered with sticky beverages. Overall, my family still enjoyed the rolller coasters at Cedar Point, but the atmosphere and poor attitude of the ride attendents toward seniors was enough to keep me from ever going again. I spent well over $400 between tickets and food only to be treated like a second class citizen.

Honest & True
By Jesse C., 7/5/12
There are possible reasons someone would give Cedar Point less than 4 stars ... 1) They had an extremely bad experience that couldn’t be prevented (nothing is perfect) 2) They are uptight, spoiled, or just not a pleasant person to begin with. 3) They are from another park and trying to lower the ratings. This park is amazing, PERIOD. I’ve been to all sizes of amusement parks, including Kennywood, Darien Lake, Kings Dominion, Hershey Park, Waldameer, Dutch Wonderland, Lakemont, Delgrossos, Conneaut Lake, and others. Keep in mind, those are amusement parks, cedar point is a theme park. I understand the difference, and im not trying to compare those to this, im just putting out there that ive been around and have experience. That being said, even if I wanted to it wouldn’t work, because there is no comparison. Cedar point is hands down the best park we have ever been to. Rides: ***** - The selection of rides is amazing. From kids to grandparents, from cowards to daredevils, everyone will find multiple rides they enjoy. Staff: **** - I cant give 5 stars here, not because of anything we saw or experienced, but because someone is bound to be having a bad day, and no matter how friendly they are you still pick up on it. Food: **** - This does NOT include the name brand places inside the park, e.g. subway. In a park of this scale, and prices no cheaper, so why on earth would you eat at a subway? Anyway, we didn’t eat everywhere, but the places we did eat were all excellent, except one, and that’s the reason I gave 4 stars. Coasters Drive-In was dirty, the food was good, but the tables floors bathrooms and seats were dirty. Some of the benches were even broken. Shows: **** - I’ve seen some sad attempts in parks before, and we weren’t expecting much here. However, after taking the kids to see a show to get out of the heat we found ourselves planning our next 2 days around show times for other shows. The ones we saw were actually entertaining, and quite good. Instead of going on and on about how good ill list what wasn’t good for the shows we saw. HAPPINESS IS SNOOPY - A little long, BUT, don’t shorten it, add a little crowd interaction towards the end. High fives and hugs are amazing things for kids, even more so when they come from performers. WHEELS EXTREME - It wasn’t long enough, and the tricks weren’t big enough. I’m not talking 900s all day long, im saying that with a park of this size, the majority of people haven’t seen this stuff live. So simple backflips go a long way. I believe there were backflips in the 2 shows we saw, and most of the crowd gasped and erupted after each one. There you go, more backflips. SING ALONG & FUNTIME FROLICS & PEANUTS CELEBRATION - No complaints, our kids were just too old. These are for younger children (under 5). LUMINOSITY - This was the surprise of our visit, we have kids 6&8, and we stayed until the very end, each night, all the way through the dance party. We stayed 3 of the 5 nights we were there. The ONLY issue is that it’s the same show each time. That’s not a complaint, but there has to be some way to change it up. Of course not every night, but what about show A on Sun Tue Thu, show B on Sat Mon Wed, and show C (a mix of A/B) on fridays ... just a thought. Park: ***** - There’s really nothing to complain about. Things are bound to happen, but they are usually out of everyone’s control. Yes even cedar points, so with a park of this scale, odds are that something is bound to go wrong for someone. This is where you get the low reviewers, they are the same people who give 1 star to an amazing product that arrives broken, shouldn’t the shipping company receive the 1 star. Thanks for reading, JC

Went once, will go again!
By JJ, 5/29/12
I went for the first time and loved it. It was far away but the road trip was worth it. It reminds me of Kings Dominion. Just a little smaller but it has awesome rides. It is surrounded by water which is cool. And the waterpark is next to it, not inside the park itself. But the whole experience was very awesome. I hope to go again soon
