Best amusement park in the country
The roller coasters are obviously the main attraction here, and they are intense, fun, and exciting. Depending on when you go you could end up only waiting an average of 30 min per ride. On our visit, we didn't wait more than 15 min for the newest rides there, Maverick and Top Thrill Dragster. Yeah, the food is expensive, but I'm not sure what else you're expecting if you're going to an amusement park.
Apart from the rides, which are absolutely excellent, there are also a number of shows and other attractions that you can enjoy. Of course, that all depends on what you go to the park for. If you're a coaster junkie, I would recommend hitting those other attractions only if you're there for more than one day, since you may not get to ride all the coasters if you have one day to do everything, simply because there are so many rides.
As long as you plan ahead (weather, crowds, etc) you should be fine. Don't go on an exceptionally hot day, since many of the lines are out in the sun, and the hot summer months tend to be the most crowded anyway. I recommend going in the spring or fall, and/or on a weekend immediately before or after a holiday/special event to avoid long lines (at least, this seems to work for me).
Overall, Cedar Point is by far the best amusement park I have been to. Expect to have the time of your life, regardless of your age or preferred level of ride intensity.
