Nature's Beauty and great hiking, too!

Don't miss this spot-- it's a gem! A majestic site - and totally free!!! (I'm a local resident.) One of my favorite nature spots in Niagara Falls (2nd to Goat Island's 3 Sisters' Island--a must-see). The park is wooded with a playground area for the kids. Hike along the gorge and see the lower Niagara River and its whirlpools below. A beautiful, large park not heavily travelled. Nice public bathroom facilities. If you're in fairly good walking health (not necessarily "athletic" but no knee, back or heart conditions), you absolutely should don your sneakers and hike down into the gorge!!! Serene, uncrowded, and absolutely beautiful. Bring a camera--lots of different sights to see. If you plan around 1 1/2 hours or so, you can walk down the (at places somewhat steep) stoned stairs and natural pathways, to the edge of the mighty river. You can continue this hike, with the steep gorge to one side and the mighty whirlpools on the other, all the way across to the other end of the park to the second set of stairs. (It doesn't matter which side you enter the gorge from). I'm only in average shape, and consider it a fantastic workout!
Tips: I wouldn't travel it alone.
Don't go after a rain because the stones and paths may be slippery or muddy.
Bring a picnic--incredible spots to enjoy your lunch.
Autumn colors! OMG! Such beauty!!!
