One time visit was one too many.
I went with wife, my 3rd grader and a good friend from Spain. We were told that the waiting time was approximately 30 minutes for inside, 45 for outside tables. The person in charge of greeting, calling the parties and escorting them to the tables was a decorative figure, except when my wife asked her assistant about how many parties were before ours after the 30th minute of the initial wait. She came and asked the receptionist (loudly) what was the problem, then she answered (to him) that we will have to just wait until called. We were called after 40 minutes (inside). We did not understand the reason, since about 30% of the tables were empty, and more than one waiter/waitress was doing apparently nothing (other than avoiding eye contact). Once seated, we were greeted almost immediately, we ordered our drinks; then our food, once the drinks were served. Then we waited about 45 minutes for the food to arrive. No bread on the table. I guess they have a serious shortage in the kitchen. We had to actually wave our arms for our waitress to come and refill our drinks. Other waiters/waitresses were successful in avoiding eye contact during this period. The food quality was a bit more sophisticated than McDonald's. The pricing was higher than Applebee's or TGI Friday's. The closest restaurant was about 3/4 mile walking, and served pizza slices, burgers and dogs, so there were no alternatives. I guess you're paying for the view, which didn't quite work. It was after dark on a Friday, and the lights inside were too bright to see outside, so the only view was that of you and your group, and a lot of other not-so-happy others (70% capacity), also waiting for their food. At one time, the lights inside were dimmed, and everybody reacted by gasping and trying to see towards the falls. The manager was fast to correct the situation, and we were once again looking at our own reflection. After finishing our food, we realized we were bound to be late for the fireworks, so we tried to take the check to the front, in order to pay quickly and leave. Did not work. Had to wait for our server to come out of her kitchen hideout to process the payment, which was done painfully slowly, once she realized per our conversation, that the tip wasn't going to be "great".
