Always filled with people, Rockefeller Center stretches for blocks. There is plenty to do here. In winter an outdoor cafe is transformed into an ice-skating rink. There is a shopping plaza with stores, restaurants, and bars. The GE Building at 30 Rockefeller Plaza houses NBC, which offers guided tours of its premises, as well as the Top of the Rock observation deck. Visitors can also take a tour of Radio City Music Hall on 50th Street at Sixth Avenue. In December, be sure to check out the enormous Christmas tree.
My wife came down to the Apple for our second honeymoon (Dec 18) and we loved it. Rockefeller Cnter is so romantic with the beautiful little skating rink! So much charm! We look forward to coming back again!
Elegantly decorated during the Christmas season, the best time to visit the Rockefeller Center is undoubtedly in December. The main draws are the big Christmas tree and ice-skating rink, which makes for a wonderful photo opportunity. However, the ever-present crowd can be a deterrent for the perfect photograph. You can also catch NBC's Today show being taped live in the morning, or go to the Top of the Rock for a view of the Big Apple.
The Christmas Tree there is awesome, and the star, etc. Top of the Rock is a little expensive in my opnion. Wollman rink is also expensive. The NBC station there is nice. Nice places go eat and go shopping there. Radio City Hall was crowded but nice.
We were walking along the streets forever trying to find a resteraunt, when we just walked right into Rockefeller Center. We went for the week of thanksgiving and it was beautiful. They had most of the enormous christmas tree up. It was breath taking.
Figuring out how to get down to the resteraunts was a little confusing at first, but then we noticed the elevators. The Cafe was very nice. It wasn't TOO expensive but it wasn't cheap. Great food and very kind and informative staff.
If I went back again, which I hope to,I would love to try out the ice skating rink.
it is sooooooooooo oh sooooooooooooo beautifu during winter. i encourage parents to take their kids there this winter. i know im going. stay at a five star hotel of ur choice. and on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day after your dinner, go there and explore. it will be one christmas vacation u will never ever oh never ever forget. remember Rockefeller Center is the place to be on Christmas.
Its a very Christmas atmosphere especially with the big christmas tree but its hard to appreciate it with so many people around, really hard to take good pictures with lots of people walking around you, it would have been better to visit it in the wee hrs of the morning, the center is jampacked in december even the restrooms have a very very long line.
