Chinatown

Description

New York's Chinatown is a cultural haven full of ancient and exotic traditions, and a huge amount of restaurants. This bustling and crowded neighborhood is home to over half of the city's Chinese population. In the grocery stores and fruit stands, you will find many food items available nowhere else in the city, from exotic fruit and vegetables to live snails and dried shrimp. Excellent Thai, Vietnamese, and Korean restaurants have joined the mix. Every lunar new year, the streets are filled with the hubbub of the Chinatown Chinese New Year Parade.

Nahhhhh
By ,
I've been at many chinatowns in the country. I think San Francisco has the best chinatown. NY Chinatown is dirty, smelly, and too crowded.

I go to New York just to go to China Town
By ,
I'm planning a trip in October, I love china town, that's my treat to myself, the best thing about it for me i love negotiating while shopping for any and everything,I could stay there all day shopping. Now for those who don't like to shop then china town may not be for you. To eaches own.

Not good anymore

No more handbags and if you ask they get rude with you. It was a total waste of time. So sad I use to love Chinatown.

Chinatown NYC Great Place to Visit
By ,
Love Chinatown! Visiting Chinatown during the Chinese New Year celebration is awesome! Firecrackers, dragons, drums, parades and those little sticks that blast debris up in the air. I enjoy visiting and getting deals. You just need to know where to go. If you walk through the neighborhoods with smaller streets your bound to find better deals than those on the main roads. We enjoy dim sum at the golden dragon and bought a couple of wedding bands on Canal. Best deal we could ever find. If you plan on visiting go early in the morning to get the early bird special at the parking lots.

Chinatown is for SHOPPING
By ,
Everyone that placed a comment here about not returning to Chinatown, obviously went for the wrong reasons. Chinatown is NOT for sightseeing, its for shopping. If you want to sightsee go to Times Square or the Statue of Liberty. Chinatown is strictly for the hustle and bustle of negotiating with the chinese for whatever product you see that you like. Chinatown is a must do, if you're into shopping!

All those who say chinatown is good are WRONG
By ,
Very rude people. If negotiate to a price they arent happy with, they'll ask u to make more money and come back next yr! how rude. Noone was selling bags lesser than $25. LV and Channel were all $40 up. i bought a versace only bcuz i felt guilty of spending so much money going all the way to CHINATOWN. Did not really like the place and most definitely not the cheapest of places for shopping. Good luck.

a great place to visit
I like to bring my out-of-state friends to Chinatown whenever they come over. Chinatown is a very unique area in Manhattan. You will see a lot of Asian faces speaking languages that you don’t understand here. There are plenty of good and cheap restaurants here. I tried different kinds of weird Chinese foods here such as frog congee and chicken feet. There are so many things that you can explore when you visit Chinatown. Chinatown is also a good place to shop for fake goods. My sister-in-law loves shopping for cheap stuff here. She can walk around Chinatown for hours and hours. I recommend Chinatown to those who would like to visit NYC.
