The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Any visitor to the Big Apple should spend at least a couple of hours at this vast museum. Designed by Richard Morris Hunt, it has more than 1.5 million square feet (139,355 square meters) of exhibition space. European paintings on display include works by Monet, Degas, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Titian and Vermeer. The Egyptian gallery is unparalleled, while Asian art, sculpture, armory, and photography galleries also vie for your attention. During warm weather, the open-air roof garden displays contemporary sculptures. Apart from being a treasure trove for art lovers, this museum provides a fun-filled and educational experience for all ages.
It was so interesting and everyone who went loved it. Something to see for all interests, including the younger eyes and older one's too. The Egypt section was amazing. I can't wait to go back one day!

I love the met, so much to see. You can go everyday and see something new.beautiful building with outstanding works of art. You can visit every week and have a different cultural experience. The Friday evenings are lovely, classical music and cocktail on the mezzanine overlooking the main hall. There is something for everyone here. great gift shops - books, toys, collectible, etc. The new cafeteria is really great. Good food at a reasonable price. And most important - it is always pay what you can. The reccomended admission price is just that, reccomended. I usually pay a dollar per person as I go freguently. I urge you to visit this new york city cultural institution.
First of all i want to introduce myself that i am an artist i love art but to tell you honestly, this place is awesome i just read most of the Art work in that museum in the book before, in my History of Art subject but when we went there and visited and went to see it, it was fun and amazing i felt like this is the place. I like it a lot you see the real thing preserve from long time ago of our history and being taking care of well.We didnt even notice that the whole day was almost done and its not good enough so we went back there again the next day to see more of them.Different Art work are great, I really dont mind go there and see it again.
There are so many parts of this museum that it's just impossible to see it all in one day. The exhibits are very extensive and well worth the visit. I especially like going up to the roof top during the summer for a great view of the Manhattan skyline (plus you can get a nice tan). On Fiday nights you can meet friends on the roof top for a couple of drinks and conversation before hitting the rest of the new york night life. They also offer some live jazz on the mezzanine level.
If you enjoy a good museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art is a must see!
I was expecting to see a lot of paintings on the walls, and they are there, of course. You will see many classic examples of artwork from different periods and regions.
But beyond that, it is a historical museum as well, with an impressive collection of artifacts of many kinds.
Plan to spend most of the day here, it will be well worth your time! There is no set entrance fee - they suggest a donation, but you can give whatever you wish.
This was the biggest museum I have ever seen! You could spend days in there and the value is great because you don't even have to pay if you don't want too. The suggest you give a donation of your choosing. We spent so much time in one section that we hardly got started before it closed. Definitely worth it!
