The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Any visitor to the Big Apple should spend at least a couple of hours at this vast museum. Designed by Richard Morris Hunt, it has more than 1.5 million square feet (139,355 square meters) of exhibition space. European paintings on display include works by Monet, Degas, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Titian and Vermeer. The Egyptian gallery is unparalleled, while Asian art, sculpture, armory, and photography galleries also vie for your attention. During warm weather, the open-air roof garden displays contemporary sculptures. Apart from being a treasure trove for art lovers, this museum provides a fun-filled and educational experience for all ages.

When we entered the Met, we entered with the "masses". But was I was amazed at was the beautiful staircase directly infront of me. It looked to be white marble and seemed to go up forever. However, before you can go up the stairs, you must purchase a pass. The cost when I went was $12. It may differ, I am not 100% sure. As you roam through the museum, you see all the greats, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Poussin. And you can also catch some great exhibits like I did. I was able to get to see the Van Gogh exhibit. It had a great selection of his early sketches, later paintings, and the great "self portrait". Be warned though that it can be manic at some times. But it is well worth it if you are a art/history fan.
Came across this place because it was the meeting place where my girlfriend and I had to meet the rest of our group. After coming bck to the meeting spot, we had a few extra minutes to spare, so we went in to the museum to look around, plus I has to use the restroom. After we went in, we had to give a donation in order to proceed to the restroom area. In giving the donation, that gave us the right to view the exhibits. We decided to just check out the Egyptian exhibits, which was pretty neat. So, if your in the area, check this museum out.
No matter what you're into, you'll find some way to spend your day here. You will never be bored, because there are so many exhibits and they are all so fascinating. As an aspiring fashion designer I managed to find many inspirations and I was there 5 hours and still didnt get through the whole thing. Its a must-see!!!
