The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Any visitor to the Big Apple should spend at least a couple of hours at this vast museum. Designed by Richard Morris Hunt, it has more than 1.5 million square feet (139,355 square meters) of exhibition space. European paintings on display include works by Monet, Degas, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Titian and Vermeer. The Egyptian gallery is unparalleled, while Asian art, sculpture, armory, and photography galleries also vie for your attention. During warm weather, the open-air roof garden displays contemporary sculptures. Apart from being a treasure trove for art lovers, this museum provides a fun-filled and educational experience for all ages.
im really proud how the american government were able to collect and replicate the famous historicaL RELICS and CULTURES of different countries and preserve in one spaceous, well maintain/ventilated and secured structure. it should be renamed as "INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM OF ART AND CULTURE".
I didn't like the staff at the museum. There needs to be better not right denier staff, and they need to be nice not nasty, and they need to be coustomer friendly not not coustomer friendly. They need to be considerate not inconsiderate. They need to be courteous not discourteous.
I love art and my daughter loves art as well. But she was bored to pieces. I think a lot of adults could spend hours here if not a couple of days however, children unless they are on a field trip dont find this place to exciting
There is no Museum like The Met!!!
I can spend weeks visiting this Faboulus building an entire day just to visit the Temple of Dendur; "knowledge is power..." and this is museum is artistically powerful!!!
After spending hours and days at other Museums, we were overwhelmed by this museum. We did, however, take a subway to The Cloisters and absolutely loved our tour. The Museum of Fine Art has a great cafeteria.
Definitely plan on being at the Met for a very long time. In addition to the extensive and amazing painting galleries (plenty of Van Goghs, Rembrandts, El Grecos, Picassos, and others), there are unbelievable collections in a variety of areas. The sculpture collections are unbelievable (particularly the Rodin room), and the Arts & Armor exhibit is fascinating. The highlight, though, is certainly the Egyptian wing, with entire tombs and walls of heiroglyphics everywhere.
Definitely worth the very reasonable price of admission!
