Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum
Built in the 1830s, the Bartow-Pell Mansion is nestled in a wooded area off Pelham Park Bay in the Bronx. This area once belonged to the Siwanoy Indians. A masterpiece of Greek Revival architecture and design, the gray stone house is filled with period furniture, paintings and art. Restaurants, a museum store and picnic areas are located in the park.
There are two incrediably knowlege docents at the sight. I have been there during the candel light tour last year as well as during the year Highly recommend winter viewing as the docent are in costume and you get a real historical picture. Ask for the female tour guides they give the fun tours! The man is like a history teacher that you don't want!
