Description

The Forbes Galleries is filled with splendorous items that the Forbes family collected over the years. Its Faberge Imperial Easter Egg collection is the largest in the world; these precious and bejeweled eggs were gifts from Czar Nicholas to his wife. Some rooms in the museum are devoted to other collectibles: toys, presidential memorabilia, paintings, and so on. It is an eclectic and fascinating display from one of the United States' elite families. Admission is free and Thursdays are reserved for group tours.

Loved the variety..loved looking/reading about plain every day items and the value/importance they had in day to day life. It is free too..I liked this museum better than the Met. No wonder the Forbes Museum is "New York's best kept secret". Keep up the good work! From a Canadian Fan of Collectibles.

A VERY REWARDING EXPERIENCE

My wife and I visited in June 2001 and enjoyed it immensely! I am presently authoring a Pictorial and Anedoctal book on American History while visiting all of the Presidential Museums and Libraries in the USA, and am returning this June to re-review the wonderful collection of personal memos of the Presidents that are on view...I plan to give credit and reference to these memos in my book..(If there is any interest in this please contact me)

if your a kid, you will be enchanted

Forbes is an amazing gallery and anyone who hasn't seen it has to go see it. Its best for kids (especially boys) because there are so many toy boats and soliders. If you like monopoly, there is also the original monopoly set. In any case, no matter the age, you will love forbes!

This museum is a NYC serendipity. The delight upon seeing the toy collections brings fat smiles to visitors, I don't know if the Fabrege eggs are still there, but the collection -,even without them, is just as precious. Go...for sheer delight.

A Place not to miss!!!

Forbes Gallery is one of the very best kept secrets in NYC. Its tiny, quick to go thru and has items you never imagined you would ever see. There is something that will touch everyone's heart in some way. From toy boats and soldiers, artfully set in little diaramas, reminiscent of your school days from long gone days.....to the spectacle of rarities from the Faberg� artisans. You will be amazed and gasping at the incredible sites that await you around each corner. The rooms are small and fairly dark in some places. The historical memorabilia is astounding. The Faberg� pieces are my personal favorite and beyond what even the large museums can offer in their historical content and intricate beauty.
