Little Italy, New York

Every year we visit Little Italy's La Mela. It has grown over the years (somewhat to my dismay). But for family-style, loud ass Italians...this is the place. It's a prix fixe menu - you walk in and they are slamming down the bottles of wine (refuse whatever you don't want like peligrino, b/c they can be pushy) and then the antipasta, cheeses, the pasta, the meat - the veal - mama mia! What a place! Skip dessert there and walk up the next block to the FAMOUS Ferrara. Since 1892 you cannot go wrong here.

liked little italy but not the food over priced,worst cannoli i have ever had when i returned home i had to go the the best italian place around just to confirm,the food was better and it was.

There was nothing to dislike about Little Italy, everything that l hope it would be was and more. The people were great and the food was excellent. I would tell everyone if you want to experiance it go for it. I will be going back. I would recomend if you want great italian food you have to try La Nonna the service was great and the food was just as great.

I liked that little Italy had a alot of stuff sort of like a mall to buy.I bought a scare when I was there that you can put in your hair or wear it around your waist or around your neck and my friend bought her boyfriend a sword.We are planning a trip back to New York Soon and we are going back to Little Italy

it is supposed to be little Italy correct????? Well I must of missed them because I saw everything but Italians. On top of this I went to a HORRIBLE cafe(cafe palermo) the workers were not of Italian descent and no Italian speaking service was offered.

I just liked the idea of strolling along and you could pick the place you wanted to eat at. The little shops that wre amongst it all were great.

After fighting our way through a dirty and packed Chinatown, Little Italy was a breath of fresh air. The streets were clean and lined with small trees, The resturants were great, and the street vendors were easy to deal with, not pushy or forcefull at all. Overall it reminded me of a block party where evryone knew each other. I would love to go back and spend more time there.

Would recommend Little Italy to anyone that enjoys good food and nice shopping. While my husband and I were there, the streets were blocked off for the Memorial Day Celebration, so we could walk with ease and no fear of the wild taxi drivers. The Cafe's and Resturants had opened up their side doors and extended their business onto the street, for outdoor dining. It was nice to sit and have a nice meal while people watching.

I love going to Little Italy when I am in NY! Even though it has slowly shrunk in size it is still a great place to go for food. Everyone is so friendly, they all want to let ou know what specials they are running for the day. It can be a little pricey depending on what you get but it is well worth it! There are plenty of places to choose from to eat at, and they all serve great food!!

The food was great!!! the buildings were cute. A must see by all. The churches have lots of character to them inside and out. GO when they have a celebration of a saint and its fabulous!!!
