Description

The same architects who designed Central Park in Manhattan, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, have created this beautiful Brooklyn park. Unlike its more famous cousin in Manhattan, Prospect Park is not surrounded by skyscrapers. Many Olmsted fans dub this 526-acre park his crowning achievement. It features horseback riding, ice skating, tennis, paddle boats and a carousel, as well as the Prospect Park Wildlife Center. There is a band shell for concerts, and Prospect Lake is full of ducks, geese, and swans.

I was looking for the zoo for over 2 hours. It was an awful b/c I was carrying around my 35lb little girl who was being too lazy to walk looking for this zoo. There wasn't nearly enough signs or maps and everyone I asked kept sending me in the wrong direction. So when I was was tired and thirsty and hungry and pretty cranky by this time I just gave up on the zoo :( but I do have to say that the park is a nice place to get away from the city they just need to invest in some more signs

Caterer for picnic house function was horrible!!

My daughter's wedding was ruined because of this caterer, PRIMA DONNA CATERERS, who served out of temperature food and caused 75% of the reception guests to become ill with severe diahreah & cramping. This caterer should not be on the prospect park " exclusive" list of caterers. This caterer refused to accept responsibility for this incident.

Prospect Park

Very impressive and similar to Central Park. The woodland area was especially beautiful;especially with the fall foliage. It was quite safe; even on Halloween and I was alone. It is easy to get lost so bring a map. Lots of construction and detours. The Boathouse has been restored beautifully and the Audubon Center is great! I haven't visited for over 30 years but I'll visit more often!

Urban Oasis

The oasis of beauty provided by Prospect Park is a perfect setting for either activities or contemplation. Available to so many neighborhoods, the park is a haven from urban noise and cement. What a treasure Brooklynites have!

After fifty years it's not the same place it was whe I was in my teens.I tried to fine the huge stons along the path but it was gone. My father and his crew placed them there during the depression and I whanted to see them again.
