Maison du Chocolat (La)
Obviously the French know how to do chocolate, as evidenced by this confectionery that puts many more well known chocolate companies to shame. Rich, savory pieces like bittersweet ganache and chocolate with orange mousse are typical of the exceptional sweets in the elegant candy retailer, La Maison du Chocolat . A cafe in the back sells chocolate cakes and cookies along with tea and coffee for those who do not get their fill up front. Those with less of a sweet tooth may want to try the raspberry, peach or marmalade jams instead.
there is no other store can compare with Maison du chocolate in the world, but there is some thing they can improve which is the "customer service", they are really bad in emplyees' attitude...they should be kind and smily....by the way, champagne truffle is the utmost thing you have to try if you go there!
Simply the best chocolate you can buy outside of France or Belgium. The macaroons here are SO good. The arancini-like balls of ground nuts covered in chocolate are mighty decadent. They have unbelievable jams--their black currant is delectable. The staff is knowledgable and nice, and willing to beautifully package even the smallest gift.
The chocolate aroma as you enter, the service and the hot chocolate.
I live in the West Indies, and everytime I get a chance to visit NY,( which is not often) It is a pilgrimage and a kind of a ritual for me when I go to this wonderful chocolate shop, I come back home with loads of chocolate by the pound as well small amounts of the wonderful variety they have. My pleasure of this wonderful experience is sharing with my friends and family and seeing the expressions of delight on their faces. I dream until I can go back again.
Actually, I visited La Maison du Chocolat in London in May 2007 and bought over 60 Euros worth of Mendiants. I am going to have to get a part-time job to pay for this
AB - SO - LUTE - LY WONDERFUL TASTING CHOCOLATE! The price of the chocolate is well worth it, it's just the shipping and handling that's a little costly. Oh well!
