The North Valley is home to many impressive structures and Casa Rondena Winery is one of the most unique. This Moorish castle encloses a huge wine making operation that produces respected cabernet and sauvignon wines. The winery's Serenade is a fruity, slightly dry dessert wine. The owner and wine maker spent 20 years in southern Spain, where he learned his art and found himself enthralled by the Moorish architecture. Mountains and streams meander across the grounds that are surrounded by the giant cottonwoods of the Rio Grande Bosque.

An Oasis in the Desert!
By vicki, 11/27/09
Casa Rondena is one of my favorite places in Albuquerque (actually Los Ranchos). It is one of the most beautiful wineries that I have ever visited. The architecture, the landscaping, the vineyard itself all create a wonderful getaway in the heart of the city. And of course the wines are fabulous! My favorites are the Viognier & the Rose. The staff at the tasting room is always friendly and helpful. The special events are some of the best parties in town! I always look forward to visiting Casa Rondena.

Wonderful!
By Melissa, 09/23/09
Casa Rodena Winery is a relaxed and beautiful setting to taste some of the best wines I've ever had. The patio and lawn, which is in the vineyard, is perfect for a picnic lunch. The staff makes you feel welcome and they love to share their knowledge about the wines and the area. The Meritage is my favorite! We plan to visit often!

Great way to end the Day!
By Steve, 08/21/09
After a day of working, there is no better place to go than to Casa Rondena. I meet friends there and enjoy a great bottle of wine while relaxing on the wonderful terrace. I highly recommend this treasure in Albuquerque!

Escape in NM
By Greta, 08/20/09
Every once in awhile, I'll sneak on over to Casa Rondena with some treasured dessert I have purchased, have a glass of wine, nibble on my something sweet and then purchase a bottle to go. It's a little escape in NM. The grass is green and lush, the moorish architecture is lovely to look at, and the wine exquisite. I'm not a fan of alot of New Mexico wines. Living here, I've tried most of them. They can run too sweet or too tart. They can also not have much flavor. Casa Rondena's wines don't taste local to me. They taste like something I would order from Germany or France. Their Serenade is my favorite and my friends find it a nice compromise. I like sweet Reisling's, my friends like Chardonnay. The Serenade is a blend of both and so there is no argument at the dinner table which bottle to open. This is usually the bottle I purchase. Next on my list to try is Casa Rondena's Viognier. If you aren't from New Mexico, come visit, this is one winery recommended by a local yokel.

Outstanding Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/26/08
My wife and I went to the winery this past weekend and had the most wonderful time. The wines were excellent and the service was outstanding. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome tasted many of their vintages to include some of the private stocks that are not for sale to the public. We have gone to many wineries in Napa Valley and Casa Rondena compares on the same level as them. I would highly recommend this place to all as the scenery and décor add even more to the experience.

overpriced! slightly pretentious even by California standards
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/01/08
Wines are way over priced compared to the quality but I guess they have to pay for the beautiful setting. Pretentious even by California standards.

Never Again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/03/07
What a beautiful place but the service is horrible and the wine is over priced for someting that is just mediocre. I suggest going to their friendly Trader Joes Super Market and buying one of their fine wines instead of wasting your money here!

Let down
By michaela, 12/27/06
My two friends and I had talked about this outing for weeks and were very excited to finally go see the beautiful winery and participate in the wine tasting. When we arrived there were about six people at the bar so my friends and I waited to pay our money to start the wine tasting. Well, we waited and waited, and, waited We began to think that it must be a private party because the man behind the bar was totally ignoring us. I got his attention and asked if we could pay to join in the wine tasting. He took our money and poured us our first taste of the highly anticipated wine and promptly left to go hang with the crowd at the other end of the bar. So, my friends and I look at each other and we are dressed very nicely, we are not dirty or are we unattractive, but you could not tell that by the way we were being snubbed. Well, I'm a bit perturbed so I get the attendants attention and ask if we get to taste any more varieties of wine...yes, he says with distinct disdain in his voice as he pours us another taste of wine, then once again he quickly goes back to the other end of the bar to attend the party there. Needless to say my friends and I feel as if we are unwelcome guests at this party and decide to leave after two samples of wine. We want to see the grounds so we go out back and take a few pictures. The grounds are beautiful and the winery itself is well cared for but the unwelcoming atmosphere was overwhelming and we left very, very disappointed.

We won't be going back!
By Jana, 12/27/06
We paid for a wine tasting package and got very little for our money. The staff was not very attentive to us and seemed to cater to other folks, but neglected us all together. The group that I went there with was very dissatisfied with their service! The winery itself is beautiful but they should hire friendlier staff!

i was trashed
By j, 10/05/06
so there were these wine taster guys who walked around with tasting glasses. they said you were supposed to taste the wine and spit it out, but i drank it. lots of it. the last thing i remember is waking up in the parking lot in the back of some hispanic guy's car. the smell of the dumpster wasn't too cool, as i was way hung over. plus, i think i gave away most of my money to this really attractive girl that was there. i was trying to impress her, but i couldnt afford a cab home.. so i walked.
