Samurai Grill & Sushi Bar
This restaurant offers wonderful food accompanied by good theater. Some Teppan kitchens and sushi bars concentrate on style forgetting substance, but there is no need to worry about that here. The servings are more than adequate whether you choose the sushi bar, or the more formal Teppan grill. Some of the Sashimi specials are priced for the big spender with price tags from USD69 to USD120. Each meal comes with soup, salad, fried rice and assorted vegetables.
I am from the New York area and I do enjoy sushi quite a bit. Both my boss and I were pleasantly suprised to find a sushi restaurant that met our standards. I have eaten at Samurai a few times and I enjoyed the friendly service, excellent food and close proximity to my hotel.
Samurai in a nutshell, I enjoy going out for sushi. I have tried everyspot in town. Samarai has the best chefs and the best ingredients. That being said, I dont think that I have ever had "good" or even compentent service. I usually sit at the bar, but even then things get overlooked. The waitress's never refill waters or ask if you need more saki or beer. Even the chefs miss items on ocassion. And whats worse is I have seen this happen with the owner sitting right at the bar. So if you love great well presented sushi then go, if you cant stand the lack of service especially at those prices go eleswhere. I love sushi is a pretty good alternative with excellent service and good sushi.
While eating our dinner, it tasted good but when we returned to our hotel we experienced a MSG hangover.
MSG stands for Mono Sodium Glutamate. It is a food enhancer that can make you thirsty and at worst-send you to the E/R.
The protions were good, and our waitress was terrific but the MSG ruined it.
For an area known more for Mexican and Native American influenced cuisine, Samuri has surprisingly good sushi (and I am from NYC, where sushi standards are quite high.) Overall, Samurai's sushi is fresh and the selection is of a good variety. Moreover, the service is great. The waitstaff is friendly, attentive, and are usually willing to substitute items, etc. The prices aren't cheap, but the portions are well-sized, so you will definitely leave feeling full.
