So glad to be a member of the zoo and be able to experience the behind the scenes night. Theway treats are given to the animals truly stimulates their thinking precess! What a way to help them stay active instead of so many zoos where the animals sleep all the time or pace from boredom/stress. Keep up the good work! (Baby giraff is cute as a button)

I like the location right near the freeway, right in the beautiful hills. I came here with 2 eight year olds and 2 22 year olds. All 4 of us come from different back grounds, and enjoy totally different entertainment but all 4 of us were thrilled and would love to go back.

Oakland Zoo is truly a surprising little place with many big surprises. Being members of the Monterey Bay Aquarium it's surprising to have any family attraction in the Bay Area less than $10.00. At an adult $9.50 admission, our late afternoon visit was certainly a steal. This charming zoo shares many wonderful qualities with the world renown San Diego Zoo including the rolling hills (get ready for a hike), and the wide open pens that the animals share. There is certainly less vegetation and trees that block your view of the animals unlike San Diego Zoo. The Children's zoo has just been renovated including several play structures, a petting area, and an indoor reptile terrarium. The zoo also includes many children's rides which we didn't get to enjoy but we did trade in our tickets for a year membership because we are certainly going to visit again! Cute, fun, and worth visiting more than once. We LOVED THE OAKLAND ZOO!

...recently. What a wonderful place!! The new children's area is incredibly fun and appropriate. Plenty of parking, lots of places to sit down and enjoy the sounds of the jungle.

It may be one of the best in the area, but it is easily the worst I've ever been to. We made it around the loop and were back to the front gate in about 20 min and my 5 year old says "is that all of the animals?" Awfully high priced for such a small zoo. Over $40 for 3 adults and 2 kids.

The only thing missing is the pandas, and one day maybe they'll come. Great selection of animals and a very nice park. The animals looked healthy and were out and about as opposed to the San Diego zoo and SF zoo where they just slept. Don't miss the train.

The Oakland zoo is amazing! I am 16 years old and I still to this day enjoy the wonderful things the zoo has in store for me. Think I'm too old for the zoo? Boy are you wrong! Just wait and see what this zoo has in store for you!

I have been going to the oakland zoo for a very long time like for 40 year's now and it keep geting better, We thenk it is the yery best in the bay area, my grandson had a boll today at the zoo

I liked the giraffes the best. I like how you can feed and pet them, it's different.

Easy and inviting to cover comfortably with toddlers. And the kids (and parents) just love the rides, especially the carousel and train. This zoo is simply charming!
