Japanese Tea Garden
Located in Golden Gate Park, this garden is a marvel of the landscape architect's art. This traditional Japanese garden covers five acres. Several paths take guests by an authentic pagoda, a monumental Buddha, and a miniature waterfall over an acutely arched bridge that no kid can resist. Overlooking the gardens, a koi-filled pond rests beside a Japanese-style tea house, which is covered with a cascade of wisteria in the spring. The gift shop sells souvenirs with a Japanese flair.
A great Japanese garden where you can go to relax or just drink in the tranquility. It's free before they open the "box office" at 8:30a and cheap after that (I think the admission was $3.50). I went three times in my 8 day trip and found it worth it every time.
The garden was a wonderful relaxing get away from the sometimes hectic pace of SF. My husband and I went after 5pm on a weekday while in town for our anniversay. Because it was 'after hours', we didnt have to pay the $3 fee to get in. But the shops were closed too, so it was a tradeoff. I didnt know what to really expect from the garden. I went on a recommendation from my hairdresser, but we were definitely happy we went! We got some great pics of the garden and it was nice to just walk and explore and let our senses take it all in. This is definitely a must see if you're in San Fran!
What a great place to kick back and take some great pictures. Situated in the golden gate park the japanese tea gardens is one place you can get away from it all. It was very peaceful and the landscaping is amazing. It is definitly one of a kind.
I loved this place. It was a great picture taking spot. It was relaxing, meticulously maintained, and absolutely beautiful. If you appreciate the beauty of nature, as well as Japanese culture this is the place for you!! The tea wasn't bad either!! :-)
Every nook and cranny of this garden provides a fresh and soothing view. It is a DO NOT miss experience, especially the rock garden.
Take your time, sit, reflect and absorb the wonderousness of this treasure.
I have visited the garden more than a dozen times and it is always as the first time.
