Golden Gate Bridge
An engineering masterpiece, this bridge, built in 1937, towers with sturdy grace over the Golden Gate. Stretching over 4,200 feet, it is every bit as awesome an accomplishment in suspension-bridge engineering today as it was over half a century ago. Pedestrians and bike riders can access the east entrance for a jaunt on one of the world's most famous corridors. For photos, or to view the bridge in its entirety, try the spectacular lookout points located at the southeast and northeast ends. Don't miss the historic Roundhouse, a gift shop and visitors center, which boasts a fine selection of souvenirs, and an informative exhibit about the bridge's construction and history.
In 2009,I was in a age of 69 and I was Member of Tourist Group from Germany.
As I get off the the Bus in Park-Area beside the Bridge at once I began my Running
-Tour over the Bridge.
I`ll ever remeber !
Sorry for my mistakes
We walked to the center of the Bridge. What an amazing view of San Francisco. It was a bit windy as the city was having a june rrain storm. We got some amazing pictures and out of the rent a car for a while. Make sure you take the time to go!
Love the city and people...so much to see...Fisherman's Wharf is spectacular. Everywhere you go in the City you can see Alcatraz and the Golden Gate in the background. Travel down to Carmel and Monterey and then over the Golden Gate to Napa Valley....can't wait to go back!!
Whether you choose to walk, bike, motor or just sit, this awe inspiring 360 degree view of the bridge and bay area is one of those things you must do. As a 5th year Californian, I finally have the opportunity to live my dream and visit the bridge on a weekly basis. Each time I turn the radio off, open the windows (weather permitting :o) and let my senses connect with the union of rolling green hills, bay waves and man's creativity. For a moment in time, I am suspended--not only in space, but in time. Words don't work here. Just make it happen for yourself.
My dream was to ride a Harley over the beautiful bridge but I forgot my drivers license when I packed, so my brother lent me his bike which I used to bike from Sunset through the beautiful Golden Gate Park and across the G/G Bridge to Sausalito it was something I will never forget and urge you all to do it what a beautiful City S/F is being an old Hippie it was a sentimental trip and as the song goes " be sure to wear some flowers in your hair" If only we could return to those days of peace and love.
Love you San Francisco I hope to return one day........
If you ever come to SF, you gotta see the GOlden Gate Bridge. It is an amazing bridge that offers great views of the city and bay. It is also a great place to cycle, and I enjoy going across the bridge whenever I can.
There is something special about the GG Bridge. It is so beautiful and historic. Not only is it an awesome spectacle but you can walk across it and enjoy the views OF the bridge and the views FROM the bridge. Whether it is looking North to Marin, back toward the city or East, toward Alcatraz, Angel Island and Berkeley...the views are stunning. As a local that crosses the bridge quite often, every time I do cross it, it always enchants me and makes me proud to live in San Francisco. Be sure to include the bridge to your next trip to S.F. The City is even better...hope to see you here soon.
Possibly the most beautiful views of any public golf course in the United States. Established in 1914, this par 68
course, hard by the Golden Gate, is on the short and hilly side. A bit of Scotland, perhaps with ...
