Description

This is one of the larger specialty cheese shops in the city. The extra floor space makes for more types of cheese on hand and for a good selection of sausages, both imported and locally made. You will also find some bakery items including hefty scones and madeleines that Proust would approve of. The staff at this airy shop, which looks like a holdover from the early 1900s, knows the stock and can help you find the cheese you are looking for, or to find a new favorite. They are also generous with samples, just ask. Please call for further information.

We stopped in here after several days of eating big meals at great restaurants. We wanted something light for a change, so we thought cheese and fruit would be a good dinner. We ended up with a creamy havarti and a type of goat cheese that was really pricey (around$30/lb. and no we didn't get a pound!) and some really great gourmet crackers covered in sesame & poppy seeds. It all went great with grapes and fresh strawberries. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, and willing to give samples so you know you like what you're getting. I highly reccomend this place!

Say Cheese makes me smile

This is an excellent cheese store. They let you try the cheeses before you buy and really know their stuff. Also, there's an excellent selection of wines and specialty foods.

The sandwiches are also quite delightful. Stop here and pick up a bottle of wine and a couple of sandwiches and head for the park (or patio or back yard or hotel room or the bench outside the shop) and enjoy a delightful meal!

There are also monthly cheese tasting classes featuring different countries.
