Archangel Bookstore, San Francisco

When I first walked into the bookstore I was simply stunned. The walls were covered with beautiful icons, the smell of fragrant incense lingered in the air and mystical chants were playing in the background. In the back of the store they have a little chapel. The manager, a very friendly woman, explained they even have services there sometimes, and that there is a lecture given there every week on a spiritual theme. The bookstore is geared towards Orthodox Christians, but during the short time that I was there, I noticed that many other types of people came into the store. Some bought candles, some bought icons, others bought books or crosses or prayer-ropes... Amazingly, the bookstore had something for everyone that came in. I had heard my friends raving about this place, and boy! were they right! It is so much more than a "mere" bookstore! The only thing they don't have are eatables, but great restaurants and coffee-shops are less than a block away
