Aunt Charlie's Lounge
Description
Aunt Charlie's Lounge is an unpretentious neighborhood kind of joint, which just happens to put on drag shows. It is a welcome refuge for older gay men seeking to escape the glitter and loud volume of trendier bars. It is an old-fashioned kind of place to get a drink and have conversation without the glitz, without the hype and without the hipper-than-thou attitude. The mood is friendly and the atmosphere is mellow, making it a great place to hang out and unwind. The place is famous for its 'Suicide Tuesdays'. If you happen to come here on a Thursday, you can be a part of the 'Tubersteak Connection'. Check website for further details.
My friends and I went to watch the Drag Queen Show and had a blast! The ladies were great - funny - entertaining! Drinks were strong! Take lots of singles for tipping!
A gay bar in the Tenderloin - unbelievable!!! Very well kept up bar, friendly staff & patrons - I like it better than most Castro gay bars. Welcoming to women as well as men.
