Serving gourmet Italian food in trendy Cole Valley, this place has a nice selection of pastas, meat entrees, pizzas, calzones, and sandwiches. The interior is warm and inviting. The aroma of fresh garlic and bread will stimulate even the weakest appetite. The imaginative menu includes deliciously rich Roasted Garlic and Brie, a pear, pecan and cambozola salad with orange vinaigrette and several specialty pasta dishes. Entrees feature three free-range chicken delicacies. The selection of vegetarian pasta is superb; try the Spicy Linguine with Sun-dried Tomatoes, Spinach and Mushrooms. A luscious Smoked Salmon and Goat Cheese Sandwich served on foccacia bread (with fries or salad) is a nice lunch treat. A full selection of beers and Italian and California wines are available to complement your meal.
I've been coming here for years, usually on Friday nights with a small group of friends. All of us have our various picky eating habits (kosher, vegetarian, plain old midwestern, etc) and we each have things we love. I never liked olives before eating at Bambinos, and just found out they brine their own! My only problem is that the desserts sound yummy, but I'm always too full.
Sometimes it can get a kind of noisy, but I prefer to be in a restaurant that's noisy because it's family-friendly, rather than that people are drinking too much.
I love their pizza. It is hands down the best pizza I have ever eaten. Their bread is to die for. I wish they would sell it (but they won't). I have taken many out of town friends to Bambinos and the first thing they want to do when they visit beautiful San Francisco is to go to Bambinos!
PS. I LOVE the fact that they deliver!!!!!
The food quality here is AMAZING! I've been back several times and tried many different things on the menu -- never disappointed. The pasta dishes are excellent, the chicken dishes are phenomenal (chicken parmesan - yum!), and dessert is always a special treat (tiramisu- my favorite)
after an awesome dinner my husband and I treated ourselves to dessert- I had a slice of pumpkin pie which was served with jack-daniels cream and my husband had the tiramisu they both were so yummy, and the presentation was beautiful! what an awesome meal and end to such a stressful day at work
I am a regular at Bambino's and the food is always consistently good, I think the best pizza in the city. Just had their Saganaki Salad (sp) and it was wonderful. A nice combination of warm tomatoes and melted cheese over spring greens and lots of other goodies (fresh figs, pine nuts, artichokes, green beans, etc., I can't remember them all). The restaurante keep the menu interesting and I usually eat their 1-2 times a week.
Fried calamari should never be rubbery or overly greasy, and Bambino's calamari is perfection. It's consistently perfect every time I go there too. Also great are the pizza and calzones. Joel, the chef, puts long hours of love and labor into his tomato sauce and even sun dries his tomatoes himself. He uses the best ingredients available. How do I know this? I can see into their kitchen from my apartment, and often watch them cooking. The food is fabulous!
