This is a bewitching combination of European cabaret, theatrical antics, cirque arts, music, comedy, and a five-course gourmet dinner. This one-of-a-kind entertainment is a must-see for San Francisco visitors. Teatro ZinZanni has an ensemble cast, with new performers rotating in and out to keep it ever-changing and fresh. The madcap cabaret is headed by a marvelous "hostess" assisted by the "chef de cuisine", who introduces each course, a "maitre d'hotel" of distinction, while comedy and mayhem are supplied by a magical assortment of acrbats, jugglers, comedians, singers, clowns and other performers. Teatro ZinZanni is a project of One Reel, an innovative non-profit arts organization.
I went last night for a girlfriends birthday and had already paid: $116 (ticket) X 2 and $8.50 (handling fee for ticket) X 2 before we got there. Add another $12 for parking. So I'm thinking the 5 course meal should be worth it for what's been paid so far. IT'S NOT! The show is great and all but you're basically starving by the time you get your main course since each course is served after each part of the show, and when you finally get your main course, it's a huge disappointment. The portions were way too small that my girlfriend and I began joking about going to the first taco bell we see after the show was over.
Then you've got servers c-o-n-s-t-a-n-t-l-y asking if you want to buy more drinks. I had a server grab my half full drink before I was done which was annoying and had to ask for it back. Then when dessert came, she made sure to tell us that an alcoholc drink with some expresso in it would go g-r-e-a-t with our dessert...another annoyance.
Then we get our bill and there's a $12 service fee for both our meals(meal service charge) WTF? So That's $135 per person NOT INCLUDING ANY DRINKS, tax, or tip. By the time I left I felt tired from the 3 hour show/wait for our food routine and all the money that I felt had been way too much. On top of that you feel the workers there have been given the task of gouging you with every last dollar you can before leaving and that's all they care about. Good for a one time visit but never again for me!
The show was sort of fun although Madame ZinZanni was obnoxious, screechy and unattractive (in my opinion). But it was EXTREMELY expensive for what we got. Very mediocre food, very expensive drinks and the show was fun but mostly silly, not really that entertaining. The whole experience for 3 of us cost more than $600 and we only had one bottle of the lowest priced wine. Lots better ways to spend money.
What would a time in San Francisco be without visiting eiter Beach Blanket Babylon or Teatro ZinZanni.
When I was last there Joan Biaz was in the audience having a great time with the rest of us.
The food is good and was more then ample. This is not an evening of not being involved in the show , the audience is just as much a part of the evening as the actors. If you are looking for a great evening and okay with spending a few dollars per person.
This is after all a great meal and show all in one so take that into consideration. Its not cheap but its a great treat of European style Cabarat
I travelled over to San Francisco with my family to see my cousin who lives out there. He had arranged for us to see this amazing show, i was a bit unsure at first thinking it wouldn't be all that great but by the end of the show i had a massive smile on my face. The performers were absolutely fantastic and the food delicious. Its a must see if visiting San Fran!!!!!
On the eve of my aunts 50th Birthday her boyfriend packed thirty-five people into a bus and took us on the most delightful evening I have had in many years. What a wonderful place. The wait staff was gracious, the performers were fabulous and the food was excellent. From the completely zany and excentric to the etheral and awe inspiring I was swept up in an amazingly chorographed and well staged dinner theater production and could not have been more happy to have been a participant. The expense is well worth it. For the cost of Cirque de Soleil tickets you get a comparable (although certainly regionally inspired) performance and a 5 course meal to boot! If you need to watch your pennies just don't order drinks they will increase your bill otherwise the whole package is a must see!
