This lovely little restaurant is tucked away in a strip mall on Lake Washington Blvd in Melbourne, Do not be among those silly snobs that think this makes a difference. Patrons will generally follow good food wherever they find it and offer kudos where respect is deserved. In this case, it's major R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
The restaurant itself is well decorated, has a lovely ambience, a nice selection of wines, and portions are very generous, though some will find it slightly pricey. All this takes back seat, however, to the food itself.
Highest praise goes to their soups. My husband tried the cabbage soup, which was yummy, but baby was sent to the corner after tasting the pickle soup. Those who have not tried eastern european food may be unfamiliar with pickle soup, but this is the time to be adventurous and try the unique and flavorful Polish dish.
The beef strogranoff my husband ordered was excellent, but I was disappointed that they were out of the dish I was most interested in ....Zrazy Polski. Disappointment was shortlived when the potato pancakes with goulash arrived at the the recomendation of the waiter, a reserved, but delightful and respectful young man, who turned out to be the son of the cook/chef.
I adore this restaurant and plan to visit it again before I head home later this week. I only hope that the next time I travel to this area, Salt & Sweet will not only still be here, but recognized as one of the top ten local restaurants!
Love it...mean it...try it!
