Puerto Azul Restaurant

Description

The eye-catching mural above the front patio of the Puerto Azul Restaurant on Lincoln Avenue is artist Angel Rangelac2s rendition of the coast near MazatlA!n, Mexico. Depicted on the building is a bright blue bay, sandy beaches, towering mountains, tropical plants and a passenger ship anchored just offshore. Rangelac2s friends Eduardo and Sandra Orozco opened Puerto Azul about two months ago, and they carried the muralac2s vivid seaside theme inside through decorative touches that include Rangelac2s ceiling mural of sea turtles, octopuses, shark and fish.

The place is not clean at all. It was nasty looked some cockroaches at the time I was eating. Plus, the food wasn’t good. Never going back again.

Look in the bathroom, then you decide if you REALLY want to eat here. The place is filthy, food is average. Loaded with bangers, gang tags in bathrooms.

I really like the food in this restaurant. chips and salsa are very good as well. the staff is friendly, but it always takes FOREVER to get the check. I routinely wait 15-20 minutes after being done with my meal to get the check and get out. Otherwise, I would be there all the time.

Puerto Azul is a great Mexican restaurant with out door seating in Willow Glen, inexpensive and authentic Mexican dishes.

Fun place, good food
By Joanie, 3/22/07
Puerto Azul is a good, authentic, sit down Mexican restaurant. I first tried them out after reading that they were voted “best Al Pastor tacos” in Willow Glen (by the Metro I think). I have to say that I agree with the Metro; there Al Pastor is quite good. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve ordered. The décor is decent; they have a fish theme with nets and a starfish hanging from the ceiling. They also have a large outdoor patio in front that sports a “Taco Stand” of it’s own (this maybe just at night). The only complaint I have is: with certain times I’ve gone, they have Spanish Karaoke going on in the patio that is pretty loud, and it can get annoying. Also, they are right next to (connected actually) to a bar that can get loud (especially if they are doing Karaoke too. I wouldn’t advise going on a weekend, unless fairly loud music is your thing.

Is this Willow Glen or Cabo San Lucas?
By BRG, 3/28/06
Just outside the trendy part of downtown Willow Glen lies this slice of authentic Mexico complete with a taco stand, fresh tortillas, and soda in bottles. Don't let the location next to an auto parts store scare you off like it almost did to me. Unless you're really into Spanish karaoke, venture inside and get a table at this very clean and well-run restaurant. The menu has all the standard Mexican combo dishes, hard to find authentic choices like suadero, and a heavy emphasis on seafood. We stuck to the basics (my carnitas platter was very good with small pieces of orange rind adding another level of flavor that most versions miss) but I saw many people enjoying the whole fried fish platter and the various other mixed seafood dishes. I'm definitely going to try something new now that I know their food is such high quality. The entire staff was extremely friendly which helped round out a very nice casual dining experience.

The best restaurant in the world!!!
By Melissa, 7/1/05
The staff is friendly and the food is the best, nice atmosphere, and descent prices. Even though we moved to Sunnyvale, my fiance and I still make the drive frequently to eat here. My favorite dish is the chile relleno and an enchilada with green sauce. The tortas, the bistueq, and the chimichangas are really good too. Oh, and the chavelas (beer with lime) really compliments the meal and is the best in town!
