SOOOOOO BAD!!! I went there today for the first time and they use old left over chicken for the butter chicken dish, the rice was reused and rubbery the booths are torn and falling apart the place was filthy on the outside and not much better inside. IF YOU WANT TO SPEND THE NIGHT BENT OVER THE TOILET GO HERE FOR LUNCH!
I rate it the Worst Indian lunch buffet in the Sacramento area. Simply don't understand any review over 2 stars. I LIKE animal flesh & there was only ONE chicken dish. If I want vegetarian, I'll go to that great place on Sunrise, that STILL has more meat dishes than this over rated place.
This is hands down my favorite Indian Restaurant in the area. I have eaten Indian Food in Large US cities as well as in London. Lovely, the owner definately knows his food. My wife and I have since moved to Portland, but everytime we are back in town we go directly to Sher E Punjab. Keep up the good work Lovely.

Food is still good. The place may not be the best but the service is definitely good. The manager/owner is very friendly and so are the waiters.
The meat selection is a little bit limited. I would appreciate more lamb dishes which is what Indian Food is really known for, but other than that, the Chicken Makhani, Turkey Kofta and the vegetarian dishes are all good.
The food at this restaurant used to be good and fresh. However, the last three visits have been awful. The food has not been fresh or flavorful. The cooks have gotten sloppy. The last visit consisted of rancid meat in the samosas. The smell was horrible and the meat was old. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone since it seems to be a hit or miss. We will not be dining in this place again. It is unfortunate since the manager of the restaurant is very friendly and welcoming.
Great Indian food. Well spices, great variety. We have been eating Indian food in New York, San Francisco, Berkeley, Los Angeles for over 20 years and love it. This is an excellent buffet with a wide variety of choices. Very tasty! Would definitely return here.
We were excited to have a local Indian restaurant when Sher E Punjab opened a few years ago, but we didn't expect to fall in love with it and the people who work there. The management is gracious and makes you feel like family the minute you walk in the door, and they always remember you (I was there last night and I heard several Punjabi families saying the same thing--they were having a pretty good time!). The place is totally kid-friendly, and the food is top-notch: fresh, aromatic, colorful, with great variety for vegetarians and omnivores alike. My favorites are the chicken Makhani, vegetable pakoras, saag paneer, kheer, all of their curries, and everything else I have tried is delightful. The naan is fresh and delicious, and so is their chai. They also have recently acquired a line of Indian wines, and I've paired them with several dishes and they have exceeded my expectations. As our family friends and one of our favorite places to dine, everyone should experience a slice of north India as served at Sher E Punjab.
