Burger Bar, Bristol

When I first moved here, I went to Burger Bar often. Since the two ladies left about 4 or so years ago, the place has went downhill. Inside, it's hard to enjoy a meal as you look across the filthy kitchen it came from. Layers upon layers of caked on grease everywhere. Flies all over the place. Everyone that works there look like slobs. I don't know who own this place now, but it has become an embarrassment to show to people who visit the area. I no longer eat there, which is sad. There's very few good burger places left around here.

The Burger Bar had the best burgers in the Tri-Cities when I lived there. Now that I've moved away, I make a point to stop in every time I'm back in the area and I have to say they're just as good as they ever were. I also love the atmosphere, as this really is a hole-in-the wall joint. I recommend it to all my friends.

I have been to the Burger Bar a few times and the food has always been good. However, today I was sorely disappointed. The food was OK, but the thing that turned me off today was the lack of cleanliness. Lots of caked up grease on the grill, flies buzzing around an open trashcan, a counter-top material that can't be cleaned very well, folks handling raw food with bare hands, etc. etc. I don't know if they're required in Bristol, VA, but nobody working at the grill had on hairnets, or rubber gloves - they hardly even had on aprons. They even cleaned out rolls or biscuits from a warmer into a plastic bag and gave them to a customer who was leaving. Sorry to have to say it, but I won't be back..
