Let me say, if you aren't sure about what type of restaurant
this is before you go, you may be disappoined. This is a
GOURMET restaurant.... meaning you will get ity bity portions,
drizzled with colorful sauces and lots of garnishes; also meaning very expensive. That being said, the food was very delicious, and everything was cooked perfectly. I had the Roys combo, which included ribs, salmon, and teriyaki shrimp. All were very consistent, and extremely moist. My wife had the classic duo, which included maihi maihi, and butterfish. Again, both were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. But if you are looking for the best bang for your buck, I would recommend Carabbas or some other place.
Roy's is a great place to eat on special occasions. It is a bit pricey, but the food is GREAT! A dinner for 2 will cost you around $100.
The chocolate souffle for dessert is AWESOME! I've went to Roy's just for the souffle.
Highly recommended if you have the cash to spend.
I might have to agree with the other reviews. We went there for Valentines day with our 5 year old son. The food was pricey since they had a special Valentine's day menu.. but it was worth it. They also had a special children's menu.. which I can't believe my son ate all of his Karaage Chicken (he's usually a very picky eater). Service was outstanding.
The food is just plain excellent. I've been there on more than one occassion and Roy's never fails to disappoint me. The sushi is fresh and the food is creative. I love it and come here for special occasions. I have stopped by for brunch and enjoyed their bento box and yaki soba. Lots of food!
Roys in Ko Olina was like nothing we have ever experienced. The atmosphere was very elegant and the wait staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. They were happy to offer their recommendations and were able to explain the dishes perfectly. My glass was never empty and I was extremely satisfied. Of all the places we have eaten at in Hawaii, this is one I would visit again and again! Everything from the appetizer to the dessert was phenomenal.
Roy's on the golf course at Ko'Olina resort is awesome! As typical with all of Roy's restaurants the food and especially the sauces are exceptionally pleasing to the pallete. Roy's at Ko'Olina has the added advantage, beyond that of Roy's in Hawaii Kai, of a more pleasing atmosphere, well planned seating arrangements without sitting ontop of other restaurant guests, and excellent service. Take advantage of Roy's Ko'Olina while the resort at Ko'Olina is still growing and does not yet have the crowds of Waikiki. Highly recommended for a dinner out and an alternative to crowded downtown Waikiki restaurants. Roy's has excellent desserts, but you will need ample time to order (20 mins) as well as ample room in your stomach. My wife and I decided we need a dessert ONLY night at Roy's, 'cause it is so good and rich (healthy too, I am sure). I think you will enjoy the experience.
