Shame on the Moon
Uniformly praised by restaurant critics and repeat customers, this restaurant under the direction of Jorge Villabona continues to win accolades. It is less expensive than its competition, with excellent service and cuisine. Dine in the comfortable, subdued interior or on the temperature-controlled terrace. The favorite is an outstanding orange-glazed duck. Desserts are all made on the premises and often incorporate fresh seasonal fruits. The menu changes three times a year, so some items may not be available at your visit, but what you discover is likely to be excellent.
We have a 2nd home in the desert and frequent Shame on the Moon quite often. It is only about 5 minutes from our house, and it has become a local favorite. They even had a placecard with our name on it on the table the last time we were there.
Very nice, traditional setting. Ginger is always warm and gracious. Food is very good, service as great as well. The decor is
from the past, but just our style. A reservation is a good idea, because this restaurant is so very popular - especially during the high season. We look forward to eating there every time we visit the desert (and we'll be there again soon). It has become a tradition with us, and we love it!
We were visiting friends in Palm Desert this past weekend. They wanted to take us to a restaurant we were not familiar with being we are from Arizona. Shame on the Moon was highly recommened by some of their friends and we dined there. The food was very good, the service was very good, the table in the garden room was awesome, lots of privacy and quiet. Good dessert and coffee.
This is one of our favorites in the area and we always make a reservation for every trip to the desert. Speaking of which.....reservations are absolutely necessary (and a little hard to get on weekends in season.) This is truly the best deal in the desert. We don't know how they do it--fabulous ambiance, great food, super martinis and very reasonable prices. They definitely have their own special niche! We've been coming to this restaurant since they first opened. The only drawback is that service can be a little slow due to the busy pace and crowds. However, this place is definitely worth the wait!
Jeff and I put a reservation in a day before our visit to PS. We arrived early and Ginger was just going to check on our table. An older couple was ahead of us and they tried to get a table but since they had no reservations, there was no room. I looked into the place and it was PACKED. Jeff and i were seated and Ginger put this very personel sign on our table with Jeff and Rodger on it.....TOO COOL. Peter was our server and made our eatting experience enjoyable. Loved the food and enjoyed seeing the many smiles in this place. We will return and we will come back to Shame on the Moon. I will always remember Ginger and Peter...both very cool people.
