Fred's Mexican Cafe, San Diego

Our server was a sweet nice girl, however the food wasn't all that great. Our wait time was a bit more than average. The manner in which the fajitas were cooked was done poorly. The waitress in a bit over the top with the flirting, especially due to the fact that I was there with my girlfriend.

Worst Mexican food I've ever had! I was visiting San Diego and stopped by this place because the line was out the door. I assumed that there food would be good for this reason but was I wrong. I'm surprised I didn't get sick from this over priced garbage food. The waiter was on par with the food, my party of 4 waited 8 minutes to get our drinks ordered and another 6 for them to get to the table. Terrible.

My bf and I had a very bad experience at this restaurant last Saturday. We waited about 30 minutes for a table when we should only have waited 15. It turned out our name was crossed off even though we didn't get seated. What's funny is that we were given a pager but I guess they weren't really using the pagers. When we finally did get a table, the waitress takes our orders but loses the piece of paper she wrote our order on. We were so mad that we left. Also, the chips and salsa weren't good. I would never go back or recommend this restaurant.

I like this joint. Pretty simple menu, but it's good mexican food. Good margaritas, lots of different tequilas. Prefer downtown to the PB location.

For a reasonable cost you get great food, good service, fun atmosphere, and enough Margaritas to take down a horse. Always look forward to going back. Beware of the Nachos, one serving is enough to serve three hungry people.

If you know me, you know I love Mexican. Yes I would rather the authentic homemade kind, but alas, it seems everytime we go to one of those restaurants the husband gets sick. But if you are looking for Mexican from a chain restaurant that is as close to authentic as possible, Fred's is the place. Nevermind that the atmosphere is fun and inviting and the service was pleasant. It seems to be a big hangout for many in San Diego. Enjoy.

Just move here from seattle and were told this is the place to for good chips and salsa. Its was two of us so sat at the bar. The bartender would not even look at us until we ask him if we could get a drink, he was rude the club soda was flat and he wanted to charge us for the chips and salsa. 8 bucks for the worst gin club soda and warm beer. Went across the street to the other cantina and had a great meal cocktails and great service with a smile!
