Jo-Jo's in Citta, St Petersburg

Jo-Jo's offers two things not unique in Saint Pete pizza subs and terrible service. I have eaten there three times. The first time the food was mediocre. The pizza bland and they messed up the order they put black olives on the pizza when we asked they didn't. The salad was typical and the garlic rolls were just plain garlic rolls. We planned on not going back. That is until we saw a Groupon. I figured maybe it was just an off night and for $10 for $20 I figured lets give it a shot. I placed my order for dinner as stated on the Groupon and when I arrived to pick up my food I was told the Groupon was dine in only. I asked where it said that on the fine print. They said it says dinner right there. I said dinner does not dine-in it was clear they would not honor the Groupon I left. This is unacceptable if you offer fine print put any restrictions in the fine print. What makes me even more disappointing is my wife had used a Groupon for carry-out about 2 months ago so they flat out lied to me when they said they never take them. I guess it pays to be a pretty lady. It is amazing this place had not a soul eating there on a Friday night and would rather throw away food than honor their agreements. Maybe the wait staff was hungry I even asked to speak with an owner or manager and was told I could only talk to a server. I will never go back and recommend you skip this place and go to a busy Italian restaurant that wants your business.

I've been a loyal customer for years and am still very happy with everything that I eat and all the service I have received. The chicken parmigiana was so juicy and delicious. The service was quick and efficient. We ended our meal with a nice slice of chocolate cake and some wine. We plan to go there for years to come.

My husband and I were visiting the area last week. After reviewing the restauarant selections online, we decided to try Jo Jo's. My parents, who have lived here a number of years, came along for their first visit as well. It was a Monday night and was not very busy. We were all pleasantly surprised. The staff greeted us promptly and allowed us to choose where we wanted to sit. Our waiter was very friendly, and handled my family's odd sense of humor and special requests with wit and professionalism. The atmosphere was overall comfortable, inviting, and unpretentious. Our drink and food orders were taken promptly. We ordered the garlic rolls for an appetizer and they were amazing. Slightly crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, covered with the perfect amount of garlic, parmensan and olive oil. The house bread (traditional baked Italian loaf) was also very good. All of the dinners included a salad (which was nice as many restaurants charge extra for this anymore). The salad was fresh and delicious. I ordered the chicken marsala and it was one of the best I've ever had. Slightly crisp coating, very moist, large chunks of mushrooms, with a rich and flavorful sauce that was the perfect complement. My husband ordered the baked lasagna which he enjoyed. My mom ordered a chicken dish with green pepper and onions (can't recall the name). It came with a red sauce which she does not normally care for, but reportedly liked the flavor very well. My Dad ordered the rigatoni and meatballs which he said was better than our favorite Italian restuarant in Ohio. He especially liked the sauce which was a little sweet. Throughout dinner, our waiter refilled drinks before needing to be asked, checked in as needed, but not too frequently, and generally did a great job. Additionally, when we got our bill, we were amazed at how inexpensive it was especially given the quality and amount of food per plate. We eat out at least once week and found this to be one of the best overall experiences we've had in awhile (atmosphere, service, price, taste, and quality). When we left , we all commented on what a good choice we had made and planned to make a repeat trip back. From someone who is quite discriminating about Italian food, I highly recommend Jo Jo's. I love this place, everyone does. The sauces are fresh, pizzas are great, and service is excellent.

I love to go here for the best Italian food in Downtown St. Petersburg. I had a friend to fly in to town and I took her here as her lodging was downtown area. You have the choice of al fresco or inside dinning and we choose to dine al fresco and people watch as it was evening and not to cold to eat outside. We started with drinks as I had a beer and my female friend had wine. The service is awesome here and we didnt have to wait for service nor had to ask for everything. They dont hover over you but keep a watchful eye on your table and like that because I dont like to want for something if I am dining out. Their timing was great and once we were close to finishing our drink then we rec our salad and bread then later the food arrived fresh and very hot. They use fresh veal cutlet for my visiting friends meal and she was impressed that it was not some cubed patty or something of that nature. I shared with her that everything is fresh and authetic. I know once she moves here that I have now introduced her to a really neat place to eat and take her friends now. It was a pleasant walk in the night air and dining out like that with the drinks makes you relaxed and comfortable. A wonderful evening to share conversation with a friend and people watch.
