11/8/2010: Recently tried their fried [pork] dumplings - the best I've ever had! Also found out that they do serve saki, plum wine and Oriental beers as you eat in or take out. It's not your city restaurant - too friendly, too clean, too delicious for that!
If you're looking for a Japanese restaurant, this isn't it. If you're looking for a Korean restaurant, this isn't it. If you're looking for a Chinese restaurant, this isn't it. But if you're looking for a quiet dinner with a little taste of all three then you've found the place! Recently expanded to seat more than it's original 12-16, Ginger's serves a kind of 'oriental flavor-savor' menu. Their best by far (in my opinion) is the tempura roll. Light, delicious shrimp tempura wrapped in just enough wasabi, rice and nori to let you know you are eating sushi, but not so far out that Grandma wouldn't like it (she would!). Every time I go I must also have a couple of their tiny, but oh so yummy, crispy, spring rolls. I usually take out on Friday nights or have lunch there with a local friend, so I don't know if they SERVE saki but I've seen it in a fridge by the door so they HAVE it - but maybe it's just to sell to take-out customers. My advice there is buy your own anyway as it is way over-priced - but it's the good, good stuff so that may be justified. Nothing too fancy, nothing like a full line of Japanese, Korean or Chinese, just a delicious taste of each, excellently prepared in a friendly atmosphere!
My 1st impression of the establishment was that it was clean and pretty. The tables have pretty asian pictures on them. The waitress was very attentive and amiable. She offered suggestions and then left us to decide. I got shrimp tempura for an appetizer. It was wonderful. The salads were amazing. The dressing was wonderful. I would go back just for the salad.
My entre was chicken & beef and my husband had spicy chicken. Everything was great and they even had my husband's nose running. He loves hot food and they made it extra hot for him. So when you go, don't be afraid to ask for changes to what they offer.
We were too full to handle dessert, but if it was anything like the meal, it had to be great! This has to be a must stop if you are in the area.
