Set in the heart of mid-town's busy Mount Vernon neighborhood, this quiet, softly lit oasis of a restaurant is the perfect place to restore yourself with a savory lunch or unwind with a hearty dinner. The decor is muted, the furnishings solid, the staff mature and sure-footed and the traditional Indian cuisine- Sagwala, Makhani, Pulao are simply perfect. All the elements combine to make a visitor feel comfortable and relaxed. The lunch buffet is one of the city's best bargains.
I really hate American food, so I'm always trying new things. Staff doesn't talk too much, or look at you when you're talking. I ordered Garlic Nan - f-ing great!, I order Chicken Pakora (which is supposed to be like fried chicken) it was gross and tasted like it was old and frozen for a really long time, then we ordered Lamb Vindaloo - excellente and Chicken Makhani - excellent also. All dishes are served with rice and it's really good. We could have had bigger portions for the price, but I guess that's why Americans are so fat. So maybe it's better that the portions aren't that big.
One of my favorites - love the location and what a great place for a date. Indian Food has so much flavor and they do a great job TRUST ME !!!! TIP - If you have a hard time reading menus cause of lighting, wear reading glasses. Very dark and cozy but you have to be able to see.
Go to the Mughal Gardens instead!

Whilst their food is average and adequate, and the service was ok - they just did not compare to the alternative just up the street next to the Brass Elephant or whatever its called. Sauces here tasted straight out of a can and were just an average version of the dish. As I say, if you haven't tried the alterative five minutes away, you won't be horribly disappointed here as it is purely adequate - but nothing more...
