Bringing to mind the authentic taquerias of the legendary marketplaces of Mexico, Chef Donna Willey brings you Canonita. This casual and exciting Mexican dining experience features an authentic, rustic menu of "Mexico-City Soul Food" with delectable tacos, ceviches and mouth watering barbacoa made with savory fire-roasted meats, grilled vegetables and the freshest seafood. Hand-made tortillas, refreshing salsas and fresh-juice Star Margaritas provide guests with an unforgettable "true taste of Mexico." The bustling open-air kitchen adds to the home-style warmth and energy of Canonita as do the patio festoon lighting and umbrellas with lively Salsa and Tejano music. Behind the bar many imported cervezas are featured alongside old-world Sangria and many premium Mexican tequilas, perfect for relaxed sipping.
I recently went to this restaurant and was not very happy. I understand it is a Mexican restaurant, but our server did not speak English. Our glasses were dirty, and our food took extremely long to arrive. When our food did arrive, we were brought the wrong dishes. I am sure there was a miss-communication problem. I do suggest going to the Grand LUX Cafe, the portions are huge and the price is great.
I would've loved to try the food here since this seemed like the only Mexican restaurant inside the Venetian, but their drinks were great. I came here at about midnight, and it was the only bar that was open around Tao. After getting shafted for $13 drink, I managed to save half the price by buying my drinks here.
I talked the bar tender into making my vodka cran strong, and he went nuts with that vodka bottle. He got me stumbling out of that place and ready to party at Tao. Most important of all, the drinks were only $7 instead of $13. What a difference a walk down the hotel makes...
there were three of us that ate here and it had to have been the worst mexican food we have ever had. None of us finished any of the dried out food on the plate. They should have taken our lunch straight from the kitchen to the dumpster. next time dont let employees write your reviews.
We had a wonderful dining experience. Ambiance and service were great! The food is so much better than the typical mexican food served. They serve black beans with cilantro rice and you can watch the tortillas being freshly made! The salsa is unlike any other I have ever had!! They serve fish, seafood, steak and the chile relleno was my favorite! This is a must try dining experience! Even those in your party who do not typically enjoy mexican food will love this cuisine!!
