This restaurant, noted for its barbecue and catfish, is located in a building that housed a train station years ago. In keeping with the property's history, the decor features wood plank floors, old photos and an electric train that constantly circles the dining room. Locals tend to hang out here. The menu features Southern-style vegetables and daily specials. What might take some diners by surprise are the frequently offered Creole-style dishes and sauces. The chef here hails from New Orleans. Ask for the Muffaletta, even it is not listed on the daily specials menu, and you would surely return for more!

NEW CHEF! the ole timers charbroiled burger is delicious, baked potato was roasted, served with butter and sour cream. Give the new team a try, you are gonna be surprised. *** you might want to order 1/2 of the muffaletta, its huge and loaded.

Food was cold, slow service & high priced. Just wouldn't be worth the trip in my opinion.

Old Timer's Restaurant was NEVER a train station. The ICRR depot was located BEHIND the restaurant. When it was torn down, another depot, just north of Easley Street [east side] was built to replace it. While the depot is gone, the foundation remains to this day.

Great food!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/08/07
The food here is wonderful! Casual, with a country feel to it-there's a toy train that runs around the walls, around the whole restaurant! The food is more of a home cooking type-go for the catfish-it's unbelievably good!

Good place to eat in a unique setting
By JackieC, 09/15/05
Good home-cooked type meals in a unique setting. They have specials all the time. The building, from what I understand, used to be the Millington train station many years ago. There are old pictures of life in Millington on the walls and a model train that constantly goes around the main dining room on an elevated track. A very popular place for locals.
