This was the worst BBQ I have ever Had, the bbq sauce was like thickened canned tomato sauce and the bbq beef ribs were extremely tough. The service was extremely friendly and prompt will give it one more chance just because of our friendly server. But that bbq sauce was discusting for sure

One of North Carolina's great barbeque places; this is a classic old Asheville dining experience, family run for several generations and still producing the best in town. Forget the trendy new barbeque houses that are cashing in on the current surge in barbeque popularity. Get out Patton Ave. and find out what Eastern North Carolina barbeque is really like. Two sauces, a vinegar and pepper plus a tomato based sauce served hot are both compliments to the great 'que; the elongated, crunchy hush puppies are excellent, the Brunswick stew the best we've had. Plus, lots of variety on the menu for those not interested in the pork. Prices cannot be beaten in value for the money. The dining experience is pretty much the same for forty or so years with an unrivaled collection of pigs decorating the dining room, do-it-yourself menus to order off of and Mason jars to drink from. Food typically comes out very fast and portions are generous. Always look forward to eating here and will drive over an hour to do it. We have given it the flying pink pig award!

Fantastic Barbecue! The sweet vinegar sauce is outstanding! The fried okra and sweet tea are perfect. The food is always hot and your iced tea glass is always full...and the prices are very reasonable. I make it a point to eat there every time I am in Asheville. It is my favorite restraurant in the area.

(This info is from my blog post on the topic of Barbecue Inn--I'm a fan and hope others will be, too!) I’m thinking Blinky Pig today. It’s real name is Barbecue Inn, and it’s been a fixture in West Asheville my whole life (it was there long before I was). There used to be a covered wagon out front–-sort of a compact Conestoga; too small for the whole family, but perfect for a starter-wagon–-to clue you in that this was a barbecue joint. Best of all, the Barbecue Inn sign featured a red pig face outlined in blinking bulbs–hence the nickname “Blinky Pig”, which is how we identify it in my office. “What’s for lunch?” “Hmm…I was thinking maybe Blinky Pig. You?” The interior is just as pointedly porcine as the exterior; every surface is covered with a pig collectable of some variety. There are plastic pigs, pine pigs, porcelain pigs, piggy banks–you name it, if it’s pig-related, it’s in there somewhere. My office mates and I usually end up sitting under a pig-themed something that looks like a wall-mounted paper towel holder…with a series of what might be pig-shaped napkin rings hanging from it. We’ve never asked the staff what it really is; we’re just happy to eat next to it. Speaking of eating, we don’t usually order barbecue, even though it’s really good. It’s hard to get past the Brunswick stew, which is warm and comforting and served with slaw and hush puppies. The “Little Squeal” is another favorite: Blinky Pig pit-cooked barbecue on a hotdog bun (smaller than the standard whopping portion of chopped pork on a bun or plate; perfect for ladies who lunch). I think I’ll save everything else I could write about Blinky Pig for another post–I haven’t even covered Piggy Petals and the teeny little golf pencils you use to mark your order form–but I’m too hungry to do it justice. Gotta’ get me some Blinky Pig (1341 Patton Avenue) soon!

I love this place! It is THE BEST BarBQ in Western NC, if not ALL of NC! I have been going here for the past 19 years (yes it has been open this long! - That alone should tell you something!) and I have NEVER had a bad experience. The food is wonderful. I personally love the slaw. Try the BarBQ beef sandwhich plate with their home made onion rings on the side. It is classic! The owner is wonderful and has always been kind to my family and I. This is much better then the chain barbq places! Give it a shot!

Loved our experience! Great family feel, cute decor. Saw the pigs all over that the other reviews mentioned. Food was amazing, loved the bbq! Could tell that they took pride in their product...the owner actually served our dinner. Apparently they are always there, kinda makes for an unique experience. Can't wait to go back, thanks for the reccomendation!
