121 Restaurant & Bar - North Salem
121 Restaurant has been serving the North Salem and the larger Westchester Community since 1999. Our chef mandates the use of local, organic, and sustainable products, never compromising quality. The simplicity and bold flavors of our dishes stimulates a culinary driven dialogue between diners, allowing them to find their common ground through food. 121's menus hold no allegiance to any one cuisine or culture, rather a compendium of comfort foods throughout the world, with a modernized flare. The restaurant's country / modern decor juxtaposed against our New Comfort cuisine, will have even the most timid diner savoring new flavors, without feeling overwhelmed. The North Salem country atmosphere represents a simple, yet unique dining experience that can be appreciated by families, young adults, and individuals from numerous walks of life.
I dont't get why this place is so popular.Yes the spot is charming and the staff super friendly. The food is another story. The pasta is always over cooked as well as the fish. The hangar steak not cooked the right temperature and served like a diner. The steak thrown on top of potatoes, corn and onions,I gave the restaurant three chances since there is no place else to eat around here.I RATHER COOK AT OME.
My wife and I frequent 121 twice a month and we love it. The service is prompt and friendly (although getting a seat immediately is not likely unless one arrives early or has a reservation), and the food is good. I highly recommend it as a great place for drinks and casual dining.
Love it here! There are few really good restaurants in this area of northern Westchester that are upscale casual and serve American food. The service here is always friendly (even when we go for an early dinner with our 2-year-old twins in tow) and the food is consistently excellent. Everything on the menu is good, but the mac & cheese (listed as a side dish) is worth a special trip.
Let's face it, there are only a handful of restaurants in northern westchester worth re-visiting, but 121 is one of them. The food is consistently good. Their brick oven pizzas are to die for. But if you want a delicious more upscale fish or steak entree, that is also available and consistenly good. So it caters to both couples and families--a smart move when you are situated in Northern Westchester! The staff are long-timers, so you get consistently good personable service. The only drawback is how long you have to wait for a table--a sign of a good spot, but painful to be waiting at the bar for an hour--something that's happened more than 3 times now for us locals who frequent 121. The bar itself is also packed. So most of that time you are standing! But again, it's a solid meal and the prices are spot on with the quality of food & service. It's hard to tell which reviews to listen to, so to help with perspective, I'm used to dining the best in manhattan--places where you must either be someone or book a month in advance...So 121 is a savior for being in our neighborhood when we want a casual great meal.
