Nice decor, but as the other reviews stated, the prices don't equate to the quality of the food. It's like they overcharge for the nice decor, which isn't worth it. For the amounts they charge, they should offer endless bread IMO.
I am from the citys and know a good italian restaurant, this in my opinion isnt one of them. average food, and way overpriced, with c class staff. The bread was excellent, the soup was great, the main course was just average, the bill came to 70 bucks for three of us. The atmosphere is nice, this is a great place to bring a date, you have plenty of time to talk, its just trying to act like something its not.
We've been to the Glenwood Cafe Bella 2 or 3 times, and this past weekend went to the Glenwood and the Alexandria restaurants. I'll say this much: the food is generally pretty good, particularly the lasagne. But the food is overpriced. Additionally, the service is slow and not that good. Perhaps it depends on the server you get ... but in the 4 or 5 times we've been there, it's been the same slow service.
The worst overall experience was this past Saturday afternoon at the newer Alexandria location. The service was very poor. The bitchy waitress forgot the beverage orders for 2 out of our party of 6, had to be reminded twice. Then, despite the restaurant NOT being busy, they sure took their sweet time delivering salads and soup. Oh, and would you like some bread while you're waiting for your meal? They'll give you 2 small servings of bread, then have the nerve to warn you that you'll be charged extra for more bread.
I suggest the owners of Cafe Bella take a trip down to a real quality Italian restaurant in the Twin Cities, such as Biaggi's in the Eden Prairie Center, and see what good service is actually like.
We've given up Cafe Bella. It's overpriced, overrated, and has very slow, poor service.
What a find! We were there on a Saturday night and it was really busy but our server (Mary) made my husband and I feel like we were the only people there. Excellent service, food, atmosphere! It was a little higher priced but it was worth every penny!
