I am from out of town and recently went to this bar. I like the setting but the service was horrible. The bartender kept helping his friends and people that came up after me. I fussed at him for doing this and he took it upon himself to tell me how he makes $100,000 a year....I don't care how much he makes. I just wanted my beverages. He was very condescending. I would NOT recommend this bar!
It's been years since anyone reviewed this place, so here goes from a local.
First, there is a *beautiful* summer rooftop which is worth the trip in the elevator. Honestly, it's great on a clear night. Downstairs is just a typical downtown dive, and it's no longer like the other reviewers wrote years ago. The waitstaff are efficient, but that's about it. There are plenty of other places just like it, so don't bother if you're from out-of-town and the weather outside is not perfect.
They charge a 10% commission on all credit card transactions, so take cash and save a dime.
Kathy's Pub has been and always will be my home away from home, if America is the melting pot of all cultures Kathy's is where they all mix together. Being that Rochester is the center for medical care and research, Kathy's Pub always has a variety of ethnic backrounds getting along just fine. If you want to meet a rich banker to or a modern day hippy Kathys is where you want to start looking. I travel all over the world with the military and I will always refer to Kathy's Pub as my home away from home.
