Redwood Room, Rochester

The Apple Cider Pork is AMAZING! Best dish in Rochester. I had an amazing time! The live music was great, service was amazing, and again the food was just to die for!!! I definitely have recommended people and will go back!

They're baaack! The Redwood Room closed and re-opened as Pazzo. Despite a wildly successful year, and being recognized as Rochester's Best New Restaurant for 2011, they closed again briefly and once again re-opened as the new, improved Redwood Room. This was our first visit, and we thought it the best place we'd eaten in Rochester. Tonight I had pan-seared duck with a creamy chunky cherry sauce, accompanied by mashed garlic potatoes with blue cheese. My husband a creamy cajun dish, with chicken, shrimp and andouille over rice. Lots of flavor (Rochester palates favor bland food, but the flavor was very good!) Desert was an average creme brulee (over-cooked, but edible). Great value, with entrees priced $14-19. Skip Chesters, Newt's and the others-- go enjoy Redwood Room. We enjoyed the beautiful music of Donny V. Once again, the Redwood Room is a great venue for live music. Enjoy!

This place is a home run!! I have had pizza (which comes in some interesting and tasty varieties) seared tuna and the stuffed mushroom all very good. Decent wine selection at a reasonable price. Friendly waitstaff and bartenders. I will be returning when I am in town!!

Redwood Room has fantastic ambiance. Simply the best, especially in the winter. The food is good, however, I agree with the last reviewer in that the menu has become ultra heavy and low on the nutrient factor. The selections for seafood are the worst possible for health/environment....they should try some artic char, yellowtail tuna from kona or barramundi.... Seems this place is heading down a slope as far as food -- let's get it back on track so everyone can enjoy this great place! Check out Sontes...they may be on to something...

Have been going to the RedWood Room for about a year now and have noticed to progressive lack of creativity in the menu even if the ambience is great. Have been with one waitress a few times now, and she literally reaches across the table to fill your wine glass, forming a precarious stream of about 3 feet in length without giving the opportunity to taste the wine first. The vegetable choices to accompany main courses are non-existent, with mash potatoes as the only side for almost all dishes. What happened to healthy choices? We are living in a community with an abundance of fresh vegetables and produce, yet I did not see any of these over the summer and fall months at the RedWood Room. Wine prices are also outrageous at 8-10 dollars per glass! Use to bring my friends from out of town here, but even they are not enthusiastic about this choice anymore.

This was one of my favorite places in Rochester. It has great atmosphere and live music. I really like the food, which is reasonably priced. It's a great place to go with friends - only send one early on a Friday night as they don't take reservations.

The light jazz music in the background makes for a nice ambiance. The food is excellent. My favorites being the salmon with lemon cream sauce, Thai noodles with shrimp and scallops, and chilled strawberry and melon soup. A must go place to go with adults. I wouldn't recommend it for small children. It takes away from the ambiance.

The Redwood Room, nestled under it's sister restaurant, The Broad Street Cafe, is a cozy spot to listen to tasteful accoustic music and feast on some serious mediterranian cousine. The bread, cheese and oil served up initially is to die for, as are the vast majority of eclectic items on their dynamic menu. Get there early (they open at 4:30) or be prepared to wait - they don't take reservations.

Since moving to Rochester in December of '05, I've made it a point to try all the restaurants I heard good things about. The RedWood Room was a happy accident. It's tucked away under a much more popular location--the Broadstreet Cafe, but it might as well be a pressure cooker. It blows Broadstreet away. It's the ultimate spot for a first date or entertaining a music loving business partner. The small menu has lots of variety, and the chef/owner changes it on occasion. The first time we went, we were hooked, and it became an event. The music has always been great, and so has the food! (If you can handle a little spice, try the chicken! It's unbelievable.)

We are in Rochester due to a relative staying at St Mary's Hospital. Dinnertime is a treat and way for us to unwind. We were looking for something unique. We stumbled upon the RedWood Room. What a pleasant surprise! The food was awesome. We each had a salad and an entree. We were so delightfully full that we could not partake in dessert. (Which all looked great!) My aunt had the apple cider pork, my mom had the salmon with lemon cream sauce, and I had the Thai noodles with shrimp and scallops. As you can see, there is something for everyone. We loved the food so much, tonight we dined there again. This time we began with a chilled strawberry and melon soup. We shared 2 appetizers as a meal. We had a spicy chicken and mushroom thin pizza and a chirizo and mago quesidilla. Delicious! Unfortunately, we were too full again for dessert! Tomorrow night we will skip dinner, and eat the sweets only!!!
