Visit this small restaurant near the University of Minnesota, bustling with students and flavorful smells. The menu offers many different entrees and a full wine and beer list. The menu includes many seafood dishes in addition to vegetarian dishes. Lunchtime deals are great with an array of items available under $7. The dining area itself is not very large and the decor is minimal, but it is always full of life. The staff is very friendly and the service is quick. Opens daily at 11 am.
A great place for a decent price. 7-8 dollar entrees with a whole lot of food to go at that price. The egg foo yung (sp) is delicious, though I feel it almost has a burnt taste to it. This may be intended and a future review may include a chef's explanation.
The house fried Rice is pretty standard, very good flavor for the price.
Will update when I try the beef lo main.
I've tried this place before and it was about the same as it was a year ago, so very much an institution in UofM terms :).
My friends and I love Village Wok. It's located only a block from the Superblock, where most freshmen and sophomores live on campus. The best thing is, it's open until 1:45am (aka perfect for college students). Our favorite combo: Cheese Wontons (as an appetizer with sweet & sour sauce), the complementary tea, and a main course of Sesame Chicken (with the dressing on the side so you can also use the sweet & sour for the chicken).
One of the best restaurants in town if you're looking for Chinese cooked seafood. It's often crowded and looks unclean, but it really can't be helped when there are people there every hour of day. I recommend the Five Spice Bake Squid.
One really can't beat a restaurant with great traditional Chinese food that stays open till 1:45 in the morning. Be sure and try the black bean sauce, and if you are really daring, the deep fried whole walleye. Only draw back is the lack of parking, but definately worth the visit.
The food here tastes really good. It isn't too pricey but could be cheaper since it is located on a college campus and college students don't always have that much money. The food tastes pretty good, but their food tastes pretty similar throughout, the tastes could use some diversity. The portions are pretty big, so no complaining about that. If you go there, try their cream cheese wantons with the dipping sauce, which is pretty good. It's a good place just to go for lunch or a fun group outing restaurant.
This noisy, crowded place has been popular with the hip, artsy crowd since the early 1980s, but do not be
intimidated. Everyone can enjoy the great food, friendly service and pleasant surroundings. Come for the spectacular fire roasted pizza, ...
