With a reputation of serving the best sushi in town since the 1950's, Fuji Ya has become an institution in the Twin cities. Pop in during happy hour from Tuesday to Thursday or Sunday, sit at the sushi bar and take your pick of over twenty varieties. The restaurant also serves traditional Japanese soup like Udon and Miso as well as Tempura and Teriyaki. Don't leave without having one of Fuji Ya's special entrees like the Crab and Lobster doria. Visit website for more details.
One goes to Fuji Ya because it is a hip place that serves very good sushi and other non-sushi plates, along with very good drinks. It is the perfect place to take your loved one for a night out, assuming of course, your loved on likes sushi and other oriental food.
If there are two weaknesses to this place they would be the rolls and the noise. The sushi rolls are not always tightly wound so they do not always hold their shape. The place is probably a bit noisy for people who are bothered by that kind of think (no carpeting and cement floors lead to lots of noise). I, for one, like the hub-bub of this hip-and-happening place, but don't go hear for a quiet night out.
The Minneapolis location has a large parking lot adjacent to it, so parking, which can be a problem in other places, has never been a problem here.
It's right across the street from the Children's Museum. We stopped in on our way to a show and were in a major hurry. From ordering to leaving, we were there 15 minutes! The service was awesome! I'd definitely go again!
Really liked the Sushi. My girlfriend is Japanese and said from her experience of Sushi in this country, though limited, Fuji Ya is the best. It is kinda expensive, though what can you expect for sushi in minneapolis? Excellent place, will return.
