LA Cabana Mexican Restaurant, Anchorage

Love this place. I especially like their 1/2 cupons. We frequently go here for dinner and its always great to see that two adult meals, plus drinks and sometimes dessert never runs us over $50. And the food is great! Always eat until I cannot take one more bite and wish I could still keep eating its soo good.

ehh. well I enjoy Mexican food very much, but my meal was sort of ruined by how we were treated by the manager. Our waitress was more respectful than the manager! Okay, so my middle school daughter received two coupons to here for a free child's meal and ice cream as a reward for perfect attendance for 2 quarters straight. Before ordering, we asked if she could be credited instead, because a teen did not want to order from the 10 and under menu. We politely asked for a $5 credit (which was less than what the coupon was worth). But the manager argued consistently and refused to give us a credit. He claimed that she had to order a child;s meal, and that the restaurant was doing her school a favor for these coupons, so she HAD to follow the words that were printed on the coupon. He rambled about how it was out of their generosity that they gave her school the coupons, and that we should honor that. He continued to argue and argue. All we were asking for was a $5 credit towards an adult meal instead of what the coupon said(free childs meal and dessert)! The manager kept arguing, saying that her middle school had no right to have customers come asking for a credit at their restaurant because it was them who gave her school the coupons. He said that if we wanted a discount, she had to order a child's meal, because that's what the coupon stated. He said she couldn't order an adult's meal and expect the restaurant to do anything about the coupon. Eventually, he shook his head, and ran off with both of our coupons. We had to ask the waitress if she would bring us back our coupons. We ate in disappointment (I would've left, but I didn't want to embarrass my daughter anymore). And since the manager refused to give us a credit, and said it was impossible to be done, we gave the coupons to a family that walked in with two small children. The man was gracious, which was the only good part of this experience. Im glad that at least somebody could use that coupon. I won't be returning here anytime soon. I bet this is usually a great restaurant, but our experience was horrible.

Always my first choice when taking "Me" out to dinner once a month! I recommend LaCabana to everyone who asks where is a good place to eat in Anchorage. The Marguaritas are always made to perfection as well! Thanks LaCabana for a great dining experience. D.Young

Fantastic staff, food, bar...great spot for the family...

I've lived most of my life in Texas and S. California and know what good mexican food is. I was pleasantly suprised when i moved to Anchorage last year and found La Cabana. the owners are Venezuelan so there are some minor differences in some of the dishes that i'm used to, but nothing that i would consider a negative about the great food. Service is excellent and the atmosphere is too. Prices very reasonable and you can find buy one get one free coupons many places. My family and i dine there at least once a month. La Cabana has been here for over 30 years and when you go there you can tell why. Highly recommend it to anyone.

I grew up in Anchorage and now live in Albuquerque where ther is great New Mexican food. I still have family that lives in Anchorage and La Cabana is always one of our first choises

great service, quick, and tasty. little loud in the evening but great in the day. The kids enjoyed the look. They liked the semi private booth we sat in.

The order was incorrect but I cannot fault them for trying. Not bad beer selection, the bar was better than the restaurant. The menu was average. Not stood out as great.
