Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse
Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse or Humpy's as it is lovingly called, has plenty of beer, live music and merrymaking. Over forty specialty and micro draught beers can be coupled with some seafood grill, pastas, oysters and burgers. There's a range of events happening all the time from the Pub Quiz to the Oktoberfest tasting.
Very loud. Rather confused as to whether it's a bar or a restaurant. Prime rib was great. Hard to get a seat, many guests seem to move in for the night. Should have a restaurant area specifically catering to diners. Would be nice to have a greeter at the door, or a seat yourself sign!!!! A little more lighting would be nice too.
We just returned from AK (7-10) and we thought Humpy's was the best food we had on the whole trip. BUT the place is noisy. When you walk in, it looks like a big, dark, loud bar- the band was set up but not playing when we arrived and the stereo was still pretty loud. We walked to the back and set outside-it was still pretty noisy but, the weather was nice and a table was available...our waiter was very competant but not one bit friendly. We ordered a King salmon special and it was absolutely delicious! It was a bit much to put up with the noise and the waiter but it really was the best food we had on our trip.
Everytime I eat here, I forget why I don't want to come back. This place is overpriced for the quality of the food it serves. They do have a large beer selection which is a plus. The food is fair. I don't like that they nickel and dime you for any extras like tartar sauce. The interior is very dark which gives it a gloomy atmosphere.. Parking is a pain. I would not go out of my way to eat here. They do have live music at night or the weekends which I haven't seen.
ehhh, its okay i guess. The food is sub par. Been there many times, found the the Halibut Burger (Bill's Way), and the mussels app to be the best there. Burgers are miserable when held up against Tommy's Burger Stop.
The only reasons to go there are to see Rebel Blues when they play there and for the extensive rotation of micro brews. Some bands that play there are god awful, but its a good social environment, but the food good be tweaked a bit.
Disappointing. I'm amazed how many good reviews it has and suspect that most of the people who wrote them are biased by relationships with unimaginably rude. I can't believe I spent my time or money there. Do yourself a favor and go to anywhere else.
Thanks for Humpy's. its a good little place to step away from the street side of the big city. always lots of tourist in the way, but they are usualy very nice to chat with. The staf is always very helpfull and chery too' I have been in and out for 6 yrs now, and cant wait for the next trip down to stop in again. The food is awesome....love the more heathy choices.
