Big Y Cafe, Peshastin

Ok, just went to the Big Y Cafe for dinner, and the $15.95 Sirloin was FREAKIN AWESOME!! I have eaten in some of the country s finest steakhouses and paid the price (sometimes upwards of $200)... and even to these experienced tastebuds this medium rare baby was SPECTACULAR! I raved to the cook and to anyone else who would listen!!! Seriously you gotta get this - there was nothing to trim, it was perfectly grilled, with not a hint of gristle or toughness. Every bite was a bit of heaven. The sides did not disappoint either. I subbed steamed broccoli in place of vegetables and also had brown rice & salad. Other side options were dinner roll, choice of 2 soups. The owner Betty was there, and I thanked her and my server. My wife ordered the same thing, and felt the same way about the quality of the food. DEFINITE RECOMMEND.

Really disappointing. Made the drive based on some other reviews, and that was a mistake. The steak was tiny, full of gristle, badly overcooked, and flavorless. The toast was of cheap gummy white bread. The fries were prepackaged, pasty, and covered in a coating that added nothing but salt. Portions were small (which was just as well, given the quality or lack of). The money ($12 plus tip) would have been far better spent just buying ribeyes and grilling. Lesson learned.

Attractive, very clean and tidy. However, the food we ordered was fresh but mediocre (prepared with pre-packaged Costco components). We were there for 45 minutes before the food was served. A way better place for breakfast is Barney's in Cashmere. A good place for lunch is Applebees in Wenatchee- they are more creative and the prices are about the same. Bottom line is- If even I can make better food, why pay for it?
