This review contains info about the food (oh, it's soooo good), and the restaurant's physical properties.
I ordered the family dinner for 2 - Cantonese. (Your choice of Peking or Cantonese). It came with enough food to feed 3-4 people, but only 2 soup bowls, so if you're entertaining, maybe request a larger dinner. The food was exquisite. Sweet and sour pork, lightly breaded, but still moist and tender. Cashew shrimp w/ veggies - OMG! This was the best stir fry ever. They didn't leave the veggies soggy, and everything was nice and crisp! Spring rolls - served on a bed of cabbage because they're so hot off the skillet they'd melt the take-out trays if they'd been place directly in the containers (They call them egg rolls, but they're not. The wrap is the thinner, flakier kind, and the rolls are smaller than traditional egg rolls). BBQ pork.....(drooling) mmmmmmm..... sooooo good! Almond chicken, comes with a dish of creamy, almost nutty sauce that's actually quite good. Pour sauce over breaded chicken and sprinkle finely chopped almonds over sauce. BBQ pork fried rice... oh yeah. Cubed BBQ pork with cubes of carrots, and peas, fried in a wok, and cooked to perfection.
The owner was quite happy to have a new customer, and although I know it won't happen very often, she stopped to say hello and gave her regards. Because my order had taken a little long to process, (and I showed up early), she came out and said she cooked a special low mein - soft noodles - stir fry just for me.
The restaurant is a 2 story building, but the dining area is a single story occupance... the second story acts as a massive skylight to the patrons of this restaurant. Walk through 2 double doors to a grand foyer, and view at least a 200gal. koi tank at the far end. High ceilings prevent a cramped feeling, and the waiters/waitresses are very energetic and charming.
I'm going back for lunch tomorrow... lol... and maybe even dinner. :D
I tried a lunch special that had almond chicken, fried rice and (soft, not crunchy) noodles. The chicken was delicious and tender. The fried rice was tasty. The noodles were okay. I would try this place again.
PEKING-E.WENATCHEE, WA.is a super place to have a good, filling lunch. For about 5 bucks you get a good size meal of excellent Chinese food. Be prepared to give yourself plenty of time to eat it all. It's soooo good.
